This restaurant was a massive disappointment. I regret not listening to my gut when I walked in and leaving right away.
Even though there was an open sign lit up I had to ask if they were opened as there was nobody there and it looked like their were unfinished carpentry projects everywhere.
As I sat down with my family I began to notice a massive red carpet by the counter that wasn't vacuumed in years. Then the cook/server came to our table wearing a dirty shirt full of various particles. Not sure why I didn't leave at that point either. The person took our order and headed to the back.
Then we heard the microwaves going which told me we weren't getting fresh food for $19.99 a plate. Again, I should have picked up on this when I walked in to the restaurant and didn't smell anything related to food.
Then there was the guy who seemed to be the carpenter and maybe partner of the cook strolling into the kitchen with his flip-flops and what looked like his work clothes getting into loud discussions with the cook who sounded agitated sometimes while she was preparing our microwaved meals. Without seeminly washing his hands he grabbed the last remaining pizza out of the rotisserie along with the pans and after eating that helped himself to some food that was prepared on a ceran wrapped pan.
The cook/server brought us plates and utensils that were greasy and dirty. I went back to the so called kitchen to let them know this is making me feel really uncomfortable and unsafe if you are sending out dirty utensils and plates and seeing the state of kitchen in terms of not looking remotely like they invested in a proper one I told her I wanted to go. She insisted I stay and said she would bring back clean plates which she did.
When she finished microwaving our food it was brought out to our table. The first thing I noticed was the lack of chicken in our butter chicken. The two orders combined maybe had half a chicken breast cut into tiny little pieces. The lukewarm sauce had the hint of a no named brand of tomato soup. The preheated rice reminded me of a no name box of 5 minute rice that was from two days ago. I get that restaurants face financial pressures in having fresh food go to waste each day but if your unprepared to cook some fresh rice which is the base of most of your dishes there is a reason why your restaurant is empty of customers.
So we ate the meal risking the possibility of getting sick as we just wanted to get home and thankfully none of us got sick. We left the butter chicken sauce because we ran out of rice and didn't want to risk our health anymore then we already had. The cook/server asked if we wanted to take it home and we politely said no. She challenged me saying why you don't like it and I didn't bother to engage with a restaurant that has completely and utterly lost touch with basic sanitary and quality of food that is needed to run a restaurant.
Out of all this it is incredibly disappointing the Google reviews has this rated over 4's. This is a restaurant that needs a food safe inspection not a 4...
Read moreUpdate: We ordered a huge takeout dinner for a games night with our friends & the food was amazing, well-packaged. We’ll definitely be doing this again!
Next time, I won’t be too excited by the meal and will remember to take photos!😳😂🤣
—————- We went to Kahari Restaurant tonight and had a great time. Everyone was super friendly and attentive. The owners were happy to talk about their other restaurants and plans for 100 Mile.
They were constantly checking in with us. I was confident that if we had ANY complaints whatsoever, they would have rushed to make it right. They were VERY approachable & open.
The Tandoori Chicken & Samosa appetizer were excellent. The serving sizes were HUGE! We have enough food leftover for tomorrow’s meals. The guys who were cooking were proud to answer all of our questions and show us the tandoori oven (from a safe distance on the other side of the counter) and explain how everything is prepared.
They were super busy with take-out orders while we were there.
They are doing training now & we look forward to their...
Read moreHaving come from Surrey I wanted some Indian food, I ordered Samosa Chole , Butter Chicken, fish Pakora, and 3 different type of Naan. Asked for spicy. it was a to go order . I had Chai tea while waiting for the food to be cooked. my wife and I were very disappointed, the food was very bland not spicy at all, the naan's were undercooked, looked more like Roti than Naan, the portion size were small, 8 small pieces of fish? I was expecting at least 3/4 pound. Butter chicken was bland, and not a lot of chicken. The samosa Chole were soggy, as they topped the samosa with the chickpeas (Chole). taste inside the samosa was ok, came with rice, the cheapest item, and they only gave 1 cup. the best part was the Chai tea, it was very good . total cost $61.00 and not enough food for two people. we can not recommend this restaurant I guess we were spoiled when we lived in Surrey with all the good restaurants there. Please change cook and...
