I keep giving them another chance but the last time I was in Chartreuse Moose was so discouraging, I don't know if I can go again. There was no lineup so it was just me at the counter waiting to place an order. The owner, who was working on a coffee a few feet away, glanced up to look at me. I smiled and said hi. She scowled and didn't say a word. No greeting whatsoever and no comment to indicate she would be with me in a moment.
I stood there for a few minutes being ignored. I was about to give up and leave but suddenly a friend showed up in line behind me and we started talking. My friend was greeted by the owner who asked her something to the effect of "would you like your usual?", but I was still not acknowledged. My friend asked what I wanted and she so kindly bought it for me. I put some cash in the tip jar, though I don't know why, as the service was hurtful.
I would like to go back as they do have good coffee but the customer service is almost always so cold. A couple times I was served by girls I knew, and they were cheery and friendly, but they soon were not working there anymore.
I don't like to say negative things about local business people, but I have heard from others that the owner was cold and brisk with them, too. Hopefully she will take our concerns seriously and treat her customers with more kindness as we have come in and helped her succeed to where her shop has now been in business since at least 2003 that I recall from when it was down the...
Read moreStopped in here when driving through hundred mile as the reviews looked good and were honestly kind of disappointed - got a lattè an Americano , a breakfast wrap and a traditional breakfast and nothing was bad but I wouldn’t come back for any of the items - coffee was okay but not a verry strong roast- breakfast wrap was $17 so we expected it to be big and it was small and not anything special - traditional breakfast was good value (2 pieces of toast , scrambled egg (you don’t get to choose only scrambled), a hearty pile of bacon (bacon was cooked perfect ) and a hashbrown ) the disappointment was the photo showed shredded hashbrowns and it was a hashbrown patty instead but my boyfriend was more then happy to eat that off my plate since his wrap wasn’t filling - overall we left fed and caffeinated. I do like that they have local art on the walls...
Read moreWe stopped in at the Chartreuse Moose a few Sundays back on our way through 100 Mile House. Fortunately, they were open and this we were grateful for. We had picked up coffee and snacks from them before and were looking forward to a locally sourced, homemade and healthy breakfast. That is the message that is conveyed in the store.
The coffee was great and the service just fine. Overall the breakfast was ok but we were a little disappointed and surprised by the use of "single service plastic containers of jam and jelly" and commercially made Hash Browns. Not at all like was displayed in the photo of the breakfast. This brought the whole experience down a notch or 2.
We mentioned this to the person at the front counter but she did not really respond. I was going to email this concern to the Chartreuse Moose but their email is not...
