I have ordered 2 cakes from Tracy cakes till date and have been pretty happy. They have a great (understatement) variety of flavors when it comes to their cupcakes and cakes. The process of picking a flavour itself is so much fun. The only issue I have had is that they spelt my younger sister's name wrong on the cake. I can confirm that I had verified the spelling of her name TWICE before, once in email, then on the phone. From what I see in the reviews, writing on the cakes may be the thing that gets a bit complicated here. The first cake also had squished words, but I guess they were trying to accommodate in the size given. The name mistake was the worst though, although everyone tried to make fun of the situation. I will probably come back to the bakery in the future because of their quality(maybe my sisters birthday again for the humor of it), but I hope the name on the cake is spelt right this time! Decoration is very cute though.
Edit: I was curious to see what Tracy Cakes "Turn your smile upside down" policy looked like, so I contacted them to order another cake. Here is what I have discovered; Tracy cakes isn't operating for just the sake of running a business, they are the prime example of a business who genuinley cares about their customers. They are not just making cakes, cupcakes and coffee, they are building a loyal customer base who appreciate the effort they do put in to make sure they can satisfy their customers completely. This isn't something you see very often. Ordering from other cakes shops, although might be slightly cheaper (like Say It With Cake), is not as much of a relaxed experience, with their lack of kindness. I am so intimidated by the customer service at Say It With cake for example, I cannot order from them regardless of how their cakes might taste. The complete opposite is true at Tracy. I can call or email, and expect nice people to reply, regardless of how complicated or sudden an order may be. They seriously do go...
Read moreAfter a long period living out of town, I finally had the opportunity to revisit Tracycakes for their high tea service. My grandma and I each ordered the full sized high tea.
This month’s menu included: a lemon blueberry square, lemon shortbread cookie, mini lemon cupcake, mini apple pie tart, mini chocolate caramel cupcake, a berry scone with jam and Devonshire cream, and a variety of 5 sandwiches (ham & cheese, tomato & pesto, egg salad, turkey cranberry, cucumber cream cheese) and a puff pastry quiche. Garnished with a few pieces of fruit/berries.
The sandwiches were all super fresh and the bread was nice and soft. The sandwich fillings and flavours are on the simpler side, but they are likely to appeal to many. I enjoyed every single savory and sweet item.
Our server was friendly and attentive, and we felt well taken care of during our visit with tea refills, check-ins, etc. :)
Given the portion, and quality, the price of $38 per person is EXCELLENT. In fact, Tracycakes probably offers the best value in the region for a high tea experience as many other places are $50-100.
A few notes:
I felt like the atmosphere was a bit less cute than I remember it being years ago. I wish they would bring back the fabric napkins, which I recalled were part of the elevated experience in the past (rather than the current plain paper napkins). Maybe even a little bud vase of fresh flowers on each table could bring in a splash of colour. I found it to be a bit plain in the room. The cupcake display cooler was a bit noisy and perhaps could be updated one day to allow a more peaceful aesthetic. I wish the tea service included a jam and cream portion for each guest rather than one to share. I didn’t find it to be quite enough, since I like a generous amount on my scone. To be fair, I probably could have asked for more, but did find it odd that one portion for each guest wasn’t included.
Overall really great experience and will definitely look forward to...
Read moreI am absolutely disgusted by the service I received today, I came in with a friend for high tea and it was dreadful. First when we got to our table some of the cutlery was dirty and one of the plates we received had a hair on it. We specifically ordered the Bombay Chai and Tropical Tea and the woman returned with the chai and and a lavender tea after we confirmed we wanted the tropical one. When our food arrived we were shocked to see there was meat sandwiches and sausage rolls when we had asked while making the reservation if it could be vegetarian. We even confirmed it with the woman speaking on the phone that we would like it vegetarian for both people. The tea came with no milk or cream so when the woman came by my friend politely asked if we could get something else and she just walked off ignoring us. She also took a bite from her cupcake and found a another hair. There was no napkins, refills for our tea, and we both ended up burning ourselves on the pot. The lemon bars tasted frozen and hard whilst the bread on the sandwiches felt stale. This will be the first and last time we go to Traceycakes, I’m very dissapointed with the treatment today and found it to be a waste of $71. This is just atrocious, I...
