Update from July 25, 2025 experience... was given a gift card after my last bad experience and so took my parents there for "yet another try". We all ordered from the Lunch Rush menu as I was on my work lunch hour. 45 minutes later, still no food and constant apologies from our waitress. We ordered the simplist item too...soup, salad & half sandwich. When we said we were leaving, they brought us just the soup (which was extremely salty & cold). 10 minutes later, we got our salad (limp old lettuce & warm). Finally another 15 minutes later we got our half sandwiches...which were a joke! Sooo bad!! I felt bad for our waitress, Malissa, who did her best but our experience yet again with this restaurant was an epic fail!! The restaurant wasn't even busy and we didn't order anything that wasn't available (we were informed when we arrived of a list of items on the menu that wasn't available). In total we were there for 1 & 1/2 hours...Lunch rush menu shouldn't take that long! I ended up being late back to work. They did comp the meals for us but, that said, we didn't eat much of it anyway! I came out of there still hungry and extremely disappointed (manager didn't even come over and apologize). Gave this restaurant another try after a bad experience a few years ago. I wish I hadn't bothered! Food was horrible!
Had the Brisket Burnt-Ends Mac n Cheese. Burnt ends were just the fat... so gross I had to pull them off my plate. Tried eating the pasta, but that too was so mushy and overcooked!
Was there treating my parents for lunch, but their food experiences weren't much better. My mother had the Fried Country Chicken. Even with a steak knife she had trouble cutting it because it was so tough. My father had the Holy Smoke Platter. He also had bad burnt ends (mainly fat) and only 5 ribs when he asked for 6. Paid $37.99 for it and then another $2.99 for baked beans. Insane!!
Manager did take off my Mac n Cheese meal off the bill and 10% discount, but we still ended up paying $77. I don't mind paying good money for good food, but this was absolutely horrible!
Waitress Noelle was very apologetic and nice. She was new so still a bit slow at taking order and remembering things. But, give her credit for doing her best given the situation. Not her fault the food was bad.
We likely won't give this Montana's location...
Read moreWell, it wasn't a very good experience. Usually I can live with one or two things that go wrong on an order, but this was pathetic. We requested a table for a party of four in the outdoor patio area and the server took our order at 6:55pm. While we waited for the food, we noticed bird droppings on the table and asking for a cleaning. The server forgot, so I cleaned it myself. I was not concerned at this point, we were looking forward to 'all you can eat ribs'.
When we received our 'all you can eat ribs' orders, the food was mixed up on the plates and we didn't know which rib flavours were which...neither did the server. We switched things around as we ordered them. We then asked for more single serve butter from our server to put on the hot potatoes. We waited for the server for a while...so I went in to get them. I was expecting our server to come by when we were about two-thirds done our rib plates, but she did not....so again I went in to order more 'all you can eat ribs' for me and my wife.
At about 7:50pm, another server came with the first of two rib orders. It was the wrong flavour, but accepted it and waited for my wife's order to arrive. It did not arrive; the server came back at 8pm saying that was it for ribs; the kitchen has closed. So much for 'all you can eat ribs'...I paid $30/plate and was looking forward to a good feast, but should have ordered the rib plate under $20 as that is all we got.
Wait, there is more. Once I got the bill, I told the server the service was very poor. There was no apology, instead she said she was too busy with other tables inside and outside of the restaurant...when I drop $160 in food and drinks, I expect and deserve good service. I then mentioned receiving only one of the second orders of 'all you can eat ribs' was very poor. Our server said she only heard me say one order, but I clearly said two orders as the another server clearly said 'this is your first of two orders' when she placed the plate on our table. By this time I was fed-up, paid the bill and left.
We will not be going back to Montanas anytime soon. I left the restaurant pretty upset, disappointed and felt like we got ripped off. We will be taking our business to the other western style restaurant in town...
Read moreAs we are out of country visitors you really only have one chance to make an impression and this place did not leave a good impression.
The service The waitress was nice and friendly, but only when she showed up. There were large periods of time where she was simply missing, there were two separate periods over 15 minutes where we were wondering if she was on a lunch break or something. At one point a different person brought us our food, and refilled our drinks and she had far more personality and I wished I could have tipped her instead. We intended to have a roughly one hour lunch but we were there well over an hour.
The food I got a burger which was pretty dry and my fries were over fried. Worse my meal was cold, I assume because they were waiting to serve my wife’s food at the same time which was nice and hot. She loved the ribs, said they were amazing but she was also looking forward to the side salad but it was wilted in more than one place so she left it behind, and her included corn bread was so hard she did not even touch it.
Atmosphere The place was very nice and inviting, the wooden aesthetic, and all the signs with little antidotes were a great touch.
I can completely believe this was a fluke but as we were passing through the town for a trip there are no other chances to do better. I ended up going to Tim Hortons afterwards to eat something that...
