Went there on my way home for a quick bite.
It turned into a longer stay as the food, service and atmosphere was so inviting and comforting that I decided to take the time and enjoy some peaceful time with the ambiance and food.
The owner was amazing. It was my first time there and he walked me through the menu. I decided to go for the daily special which lamb Keema and lamb curry with roti.
The combo was very nice and cost effective. For $14 i got 2 rotis (fresh mind you handmade not frozen thrown on a tawa) fresh lamb curry, papar and Gulab jaman.
Well I ended up buying a second for my family on the way out because the quality was good. What I really liked was that the curry was adjustable to spice level, me and my family eat very mild but you had the choice of making it as spicy as you wanted or as mild as you wanted which fitted perfectly for my 4-year-old and myself.
I also rated the atmosphere. Very nice because most authentic Indian/ Pakistani restaurants you go to the bathrooms are very dirty and nasty. This place was so clean that I thought they had just finished renovating but they had kept the bathrooms very clean and they were very usable. They were unisex so I know my wife would be comfortable going there. In fact, even my son who is just getting potty trained would be able to go there. I know you might not think about this if you don't have a family or not thinking on that level, but that is a big turn off for me. But this place was very clean. Not to mention a health inspector had just given them a flying stars review and pass for being so clean which I saw with my own eyes. The kitchen is wide open so you can see the cooking going on how clean they are and everything is made fresh.
So for those reasons I would say it is a very nice place to visit to sit down or to grab a quick bite and the owner was very friendly. Actually came out and checked on me several times if I like the food. He also was very nice and conversation walked me through all of the menu and where they get...
Read moreEdit from May 2024: Went in today to get a Chicken Thali, what a disappointment it was! Especially disappointing given that all my previous experiences here have been great. The thali has a little bit of chicken curry with maybe 3 pieces of chicken in it, a little bit of chickpeas, 2 rotis and a lot of rice. There wasn’t any salad or yoghurt either. Seemed like a rip-off for $16. Definitely put a damper on all previous good experiences, unfortunately won’t be coming back here now.
Wow just checked out this place today and going back for sure! The food was amazing. The service was slow but we didn't mind waiting because the food was really good. We tried calling ahead (quite a few times infact) but didn't get a response. We were later told that there was some issue with their phone line today. The manager (perhaps owner?! not sure) noticed that we were waiting a long time and offered to check in on our order and got our food shortly after. He also offered us drinks for inconvenience, which I had first declined. But we did decide later to try some house drinks that looked so colorful and tasted even better. Had a great experience and can't wait to go...
Read moreWe just came back home from having food here for the first and most likely last time.
Arrived at noon. We were hoping to have the breakfast combo which had all the items we wanted in one dish so we could sample them all, however we’re told breakfast was only served till 11am and were disappointed to hear.
So ordered everything on own and it put a huge dent in the wallet. Also we put in a tip with the order to later find there was no table service which left us confusing as to what was the tip for as we did all the work ourselves.
Portion size was huge for dosa so the idli and vada were too much for us to finish.
The potatoes inside the dosa were somewhat cold in some areas and warm in others, also the taste of the potatoes were lacking a lot of spices and flavour.
Sambhar was quite runny and would grab onto anything when dipped.
The texture on vada was very greasy.
Looking at the size of the menu it seem that this place is trying to cover all the dishes and has no time to specialize or master a few so much of it is mediocre.
Great example would be the tea from a machine that puts out instant product, moment I saw it I knew who are the...
