I really wanted to love this place as it is in the neighbourhood, however I probably won’t be back.
My husband and I walked in yesterday for the first time. No greetings from staff and no clear directions so after a moment of waiting, we took a seat and waited. Your waitstaff walked by us multiple times before I flagged one down to inquire how to order etc. Apparently, there is a sign to order and then seat yourself, however it was not visible as there was a small group of persons blocking it when we walked in. The server herself was professional after I flagged her down, and she provided instructions.
We then got menus and went to the counter to place our orders. My husband originally ordered the small breakfast board which stated on the menu that it is served on weekends and holidays only (we went in on a holiday, Canada Day Monday - bank holiday), but were informed that it was only weekends that it could actually be ordered. My husband ordered the waffle board as an alternative and I ordered the crepe board with the Blueberry Lavender iced tea. We then returned to our seats to wait.
The drink (Blueberry Lavender iced tea) came pretty quickly. The portion size was adequate and presentation was good. Flavour wise, it was good. Unfortunately, my drink was not stirred/mixed well and I took a big sip of incredibly sweet syrup at the bottom of the glass. However, once I stirred it, the experience was improved.
The food came shortly after. The wait between placing the order and receiving it was not long at all. Overall, presentation was the best thing about the food. Unfortunately, my husband received waffles that were clearly well overdone - almost burnt/really browned and hard. We did flag down the waitstaff to inquire if this was how ‘browned’/hard the waffles were supposed to be and she stated yes, however we later saw another order for a different table come out with waffles that were less browned and appeared to be more palatable. Unfortunately, my crepes were just as disappointing. While presentation was ok, my crepes were cold and therefore not appetizing.
Like I said, I really wanted to love this place, but I will likely not return. The price point is amazing, however, I would gladly pay more for better food and a...
Read moreOn July 29, around 2-something PM, my friend and I went to this restaurant. We were in the area, just looking on Google for a place to eat lunch. Your place looked good, so we tried it.
This is what happened.
When we came in, they told us to wait about five minutes. And there were some four-person tables empty, but they made us wait. Later, we saw a single person came after us, and they sat them right away at one of those empty four-person tables.
Finally, we got our seats. We ordered drinks and food. My soup and my friend's waffle came first, they tasted good. But when I just ate a few spoons of my soup, my sandwich came. I asked the server nicely to take it back for a bit, and she looked a little annoyed.
After I finished my soup, it was hard to get someone's attention to tell them I was ready for the sandwich to come back. When it came back, I saw the sandwich had no mayo, even though I asked for it. I asked her to fix it again, and her face looked even worse.
After some minutes, a young woman, I think she was a manager, came over. She said the kitchen needed to make a new sandwich, so it would take more time. By this time, my friend already finished his food, and I was still waiting. I was very upset and not hungry anymore, so I asked to cancel the sandwich and just get the bill.
That manager's answer surprised me a lot. She was very defensive, and she said it was my fault for the delay because I sent the sandwich back two times. I told her the kitchen made mistakes two times. Then she said the sandwich would be free, but what surprised me most, she said I am not welcome to come back to this restaurant. Then, the hostess also came and told us to never come back.
I never saw service like this. All the time, they never said sorry for any mistakes. Even when I pointed out problems, they just gave bad apologies. They just blamed the customer—me—which was not professional and not okay.
I will not come back to eat here. I write this not to be bad, but I feel this is very disrespectful to the restaurant business. I hope the restaurant will care more about...
Read moreFirst time visitor,my friend lives in Ajax and wanted to introduce me to that little spot.
At first glance it looks cute and quaint, the food was okay. The cherry tomatoes that were on my plate were Over ripe So I had to leave them on my plate. The hash brown's not at all what I expected, It's described as crispy hash browns and all it is basically basically it's baked potatoes cut in little squares not crispy at all.
My friend had ordered The hash browns and it took forever to arrive.
The plants on all the tables are dying, they need to be watered, I watered the plant on our table poor thing sucked up the water in 2 secs!!! Please water your plants.
I would like to just make more suggestions which will probably help your business.
For starters the cutlery is very cheap looking and it looks like someone has been biting on it full of scratches.
The bathroom Definitely needs to be cleaner and modernized.
The glasses that are on the tables are dirty and full of water marks and the water that is brought to the table as you arrive, that is tap water, it tastes absolutely disgusting, please don't do that if you don't have filtered water do not offer tap water if you're looking not to poison your clientele with chlorine.
One last piece of advice when you have patrons with little children who are constantly screaming like we had to endure yesterday your people should be able to ask them nicely and politely to cut that out,for the parents tell those children to stop screaming for no good reason and just behave themselves in public. My friend and I had to endure all that screaming for almost 30 minutes until they finally left and even then when they left the adults were outside the door smoking... so that basically blocks anybody who wants to come in who is not a smoker.
So a little bit more care would be definitely good idea. Personally the next time I'm in Ajax I will not be visiting you again I'm sorry...
