I thought of giving Hakka Passion a try for Chinese/Thai food so ordered a few items - Vegetable Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Vegetables and Vegetable Pad Thai.
I specifically instructed the restaurant staff that the Vegetable Pad Thai and the Sweet and Sour Vegetables shouldn’t be too sweet and she said she will let the chef know.
I was told that the order will be ready in about 15-20 mins but it actually took about 35 mins. Nevertheless, I picked up my order.
It was time to open the food containers. The moment I opened the Vegetable Pad Thai, it gave a foul smell which was just intolerable. Despite that, I tasted a small bite and it tasted horrible. The look of the dish itself was evident that it was made wrongly. It was so bad that I felt like puking. (I am serious about it). The chef just mixed over-boiled Pad Thai noodles with some red sauce. It seems the restaurant did not know how to make a Pad Thai although they claim they make Thai dishes. I had to throw the entire Pad Thai in the garbage. I called the restaurant and complained about it. The lady started arguing that this is the way they make Pad Thai. It took me a while to convince her that it was just not eatable, that is when she accepted to replace it with some other dish.
For the replacement, the next day, I ordered garlic fish dry just to be safe this time. It was kind of okay but gave a weird aftertaste. At least it was eatable without much issue.
The Sweet and Sour Vegetables was no good in terms of taste. The red gravy had the American chop suey kind of flavour which was not what I expected from this dish. The only good thing was that it had enough veggies but unfortunately that didn’t work either and had to dispose it of as well.
The Vegetable Fried Rice tasted just okay but the rice was a bit hard and dry. There weren’t enough veggies except for a few small pieces of broccoli.
My experience was bad and I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant if you’re craving authentic Chinese/Thai food. There are many other Hakka Chinese restaurants in the area that serve much...
Read moreI would give this place zero stars if i could. I just ordered 85$ worth of food for my office lunch. It was inedible! first of all i ordered it right when they opened at 11:30 so we expected everything to be fresh. nothing was even hot! we ordered two different types of fried rice, both so stale. i got Chili chicken white meat and the pieces were huge and spongey. we thought it was fish, or couldnt even tell what kind of meat it was. the shanghai noodles were gross and chicken pakora was pretty flavorless.
I called to complain mainly about the rice and chili chicken and they were arguing back with me and wouldnt just accept the fact that the food wasnt good. If a customer is telling you the food was bad, you just apologize and accept it. what is there to argue back? she was refusing a refund and said she could give me new rice if i brought back what she gave us...after 6 ppl tried it we threw it out and she wanted me to go through the garbage to get it??? ......... what kind of customer service is that? i ended up hanging up on her because she was arguing with me. honestly the worstttt hakka ive ever had, i spat it out. i regret not taking pictures before throwing it all out. never going here again!!! horrible service and...
Read moreHakka Passion is one of my go-to Asian restaurants in Ajax. They consistently have excellent quality food and it is prepared very quickly. They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from and they can customize the dish to make it more/less spicy or even add/remove certain ingredients. They give excellent sized portions and their prices are quite reasonable. My wife and I always order from this place when we have gatherings, or if we just feel like having a few dishes for a Friday or Saturday night. It is a shame that they do not have their own delivery driver, but that is fine for us since we live just across the street. They don't have any pork dishes which is a bit disappointing but thats ok because the meat options that they do offer taste fantastic! They also offer an $8 lunch special that comes with a spring roll (or a pop). The portion they provide is big so you can split it up between two meals, or you can split it with another person. Overall a fantastic restaurant that I have been frequenting for years and will continue to visit for many...
