EDIT: We tried, again - and it was DELICIOUS. We got donairs this time. Great big portions and awesome toppings. I couldn't stop eating the meat. We really appreciated the kind response to our previous post and are so excited to eat here again - soon! We had a terrible experience with Almira's. For Mother's Day, we thought we would try Almira's since Mediterranean is her favourite. We submitted a large order on SkiptheDishes around 5:00pm for delivery between 6:30-7pm, which was confirmed immediately. At 6:23, we got a call that you were out of tabouli...my favourite dish, but whatever. We took the offer to substitute the house salad. Although we submitted the order in advance, our food wasn't ready until 7pm. We didn't receive our order until after 7. We asked for pita bread for the wait, which we got, but it was a small portion for four of us eating. We would've paid for extra had it been on option on the menu.
The house salad was a pathetic amount of marinated tomatoes - disappointing. The falafel looked like bits scraped out of a pan - although the falafel salad description literally says "patties" - and put on "salad" (some iceberg lettuce) which was loaded with onions and olives. I detest olives, and they weren't mentioned in the salad's description. My mother is sensitive to onions, rendering the salad inedible; onions aren't mentioned in the description, either. I've never seen falafel not shaped into balls/patties, before, and wasn't impressed with the crusty bits we got. My husband had the burger and was sick all night, into the next morning. The wings were dry and bland.
We had had a long, tough day and were too exhausted to call or press the issue further, but I'm still extremely frustrated that Mother's Day dinner was ruined. We spent a lot of money for our family and had to make food afterwards.
I really hope this was a one-off bad situation. We're relatively new to Okotoks and want to support local businesses, but I would strongly not recommend them based on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently discovered Almiras, a delightful Mediterranean restaurant in our new city, and I must say, it has quickly become one of our favorite spots. The moment we stepped foot inside, we were greeted with warm smiles and a friendly atmosphere that instantly made us feel at home.
One of the standout dishes at Almiras is their Philly cheese donair, which has quickly become my absolute favorite. The combination of tender, flavorful meat, gooey melted cheese, and the perfect blend of spices creates a mouthwatering experience that keeps me coming back for more. Each bite is a burst of deliciousness, and I find myself craving it even when I'm not dining at the restaurant.
What truly sets Almiras apart, however, is the exceptional staff. From the moment we walked in, they made us feel like part of their family. Their genuine warmth and attentiveness to our needs made each visit a memorable one. They are always ready to offer recommendations, answer any questions, and ensure that we have a fantastic dining experience.
Supporting local family businesses is something we hold dear, and Almiras embodies everything we love about them. The dedication and passion they put into their food and service is evident in every aspect of our dining experience. It's heartwarming to see a family-run establishment thrive and bring such joy to the community.
In just two months, we have already visited Almiras three times, and each visit has been consistently excellent. The quality of the food, the friendly staff, and the welcoming atmosphere make it a place we can't resist. Whether it's a casual lunch or a special dinner, Almiras always delivers an exceptional Mediterranean dining experience.
If you're in search of a Mediterranean restaurant that offers delicious food, friendly service, and a welcoming ambiance, look no further than Almiras. It's a hidden gem that deserves all the recognition it can get. We can't wait to continue supporting this local family business and enjoy many more delightful...
