Sherry and Robyn have taken a tiny little house on one of the most historic streets in Okotoks and created a cozy retreat. The interior was completely gutted to make way for Sherry's state-of-the-art kitchen and several rooms for seating - creating intimate enclaves in which you can unwind over a Fratello coffee (roastery is local, in Calgary) and some delicious goodies. Robyn and company will serve you up a latte, tea, bulletproof coffee, pop, or water, among other options.
Sherry's baking is awesome. My personal favorite is any of the protein/energy balls. The cookies and cupcakes are good too. 94 offers a great selection of gluten-free options on any given day (muffins, cookies, cupcakes, etc.).
94 also offers cupcake and cookie decorating classes. These are super fun options for kids! Can't make the decorating day? Why not grab a to-go kit for at home?!
Lastly, I love Sherry's creativity with her cakes. She really puts a lot of creative energy and attention to detail into her cakes.
Side note: nothing in 94 is "cheap"; you pay for what you get. That being said, nothing is outrageously expensive. I've found most products to be on-par with other specialty bakeries and coffee shops in the region. Remember that we vote with our dollars - if you want cheap you always have the option to buy baked goods (from that big blue box place) that magically don't...
Read moreSuch a gem right in historic downtown Okotoks. Sherry and her staff are the ultimate hosts and take the utmost care to ensure everything they do is top notch. I visited 94 for the first time in July 2021 to pick up a custom cake that I ordered. I had a basic idea in my head and emailed with Sherry back and forth. Although not being the best baker, the most creative, or having a completely coherent idea of what I wanted, Sherry used her expertise and brought my ideas to fruition (and more). The cake was not only incredibly decorated but absolutely delicious.
The bakery/cafe is beautifully uniquely decorated. The only way to describe it is 1D / cartoony (see my photo). It is a very cool spot to visit, have a cup of coffee and some treat, and even get some work done away from your home office. I will definitely make this a regular spot on the days I need to get out of the house.
Sherry recommended that I come in to try Loft Coffee which is a local roaster in Dewinton (See my detailed Google review for them). The coffee is very well done and the expertise is preparation and service by the folks at 94 is wonderful. I had an Americano and then a latte, both of which were delicious and prepared with care (yes I was listening carefully to ensure that they didn't oversteam / burn the milk when making my latte ;) )
Thank you very much for the...
Read moreI've watched one of my favourite go to spots get worse and worse. I've ordered a custom cake here and it was great. Looked exactly like the picture, tasted pretty good. Lately, the quality has just deteriorated. I purchased 3 macarons (3x$2.50) (blue Raspberry, fuzzy peach, watermelon) and a tiramisu cupcake ($5.50) today. With a glass of ice water. My total was $16.28. Without a water my total would be $13.28 with tax... if a cup of ice water was $3, then wow. But. Also, hoping I wasn't overcharged carelessly. Maybe I misread the board?
These are NOT crave cupcake quality or size for the same price. The cupcake itself reminded me of when I first made cupcakes when I was 12, and there was nothing special about the topping.. bland. All around a disappointment when you travel to go specially to a few places and they've let you down multiple occasions. 5 years ago they would have gotten a 5 star, but they're now just a place to take pictures and spend a lot of money on not a quality product.
I hope others peoples experiences are different but after giving them more than enough times to prove me wrong, I won't be going out of my way to stop...
