Grand Central Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Alberta

The food was good it was the service that was lacking. From the moment I walked through the door I felt like I wasn't wanted. Six waitresses immediately turned their backs and were looking over their shoulders like they were trying to decide who was going to be stuck serving me. I almost left before anyone got to my table. No one asked if I was dining alone, I was not asked if I noticed the specials nor told about them. I was introduced to a new team member who was shadowing my waitress as it was here second day and she shadowed long enough for the first introduction. When I eventually got asked if I would like a refill of my water they just refilled my original glass which I believe is not standard practice. I went in with full intentions of leaving a great tip and had a hard time justifying leaving one. Rant! I go to grand central order the French onion soup. It comes to me cold so they rebake it which then makes the bread Saugy and turns the soup to mush. At which point I apologize and ask if they can give me a discount on the soup, so they bar me and everyone at my table. We weren't rude. We didn't drink any alcohol but apparently complaining is enough to get barred. I didn't complain about the fact this waitress was so busy talking to her friends she barely gave us any service, half ass wiped the tables didn't even fully clean them. I have been going there for years and to get barred over asking for a discount on a soup I didn't eat is rediculous. Do not go there because they won't fix there mistake or you will get barred. They also last time I was there added food to our bill that wasn't ours and when I said something they tried to make me feel bad and pay for it because "it's gonna come out of our pockets". All of our orders were exceptional both visits. I have yet to find a fresh starter salad as good as what they serve. I was amazed, most places serve bagged lettuce and believe me it smells. Their garden salad has mixed greens, quartered fresh tomatoes, celery, a few slices of red onion and the best home made 1000 island dressing ( as good as mine). The pizza was delicious, crust perfectly cooked, I’ve had their steak, it was thick, juicy, perfect cook and seasoning. On second visit had their homemade Salisbury steak with mushroom and onion gravey , delicious! Could cut it with a fork. I could go on and on but this was the best couple of meals we have had in Okotoks bar none!! The price was on par with other dinning experiences in Okotoks. Our next visit will take some photos.
