I am writing this review on behalf of my elderly parents. They felt that their waitress did not enjoy their job, and that serving them was a major imposition. This was on Wednesday, August 16th, at 5pm.
This was a table of 6, four adults and two little girls, and everyone felt rushed by the server to get out of there as soon as they sat down.
They had barely sat down when the waitress demanded their order. Everyone looked at each other like "what is going on right now?" And said they would need more time as they just been seated. That's when the waitress set the mood for their dining experience, and seemed awfully annoyed that they didn't know what they wanted yet.
They would have left at this point, but both parties that met up for this dinner had driven a long ways to meet up, and everyone was tired and hungry. The young family drove from Calgary, and my parents drove from British Columbia.
The table asked if they had sugar free coke, which the server responded "we only have Pepsi products". After a small pause, they asked if they had sugar free pepsi. The server responded, "we only have diet Pepsi". Everyone at the table was mentally face palming at this point.
My mom asked the waitress questions about the menu and was receiving major attitude back. For example, when my mother asked what flavours of sweet wings they served, the waitress looked at her like she was from outer space, pointed at the menu and loudly declared "it's right there, just read that". My mother responded with "I cannot read" (she forgot her reading glasses). The waitress still just pointed and said "they're right there", offering no help when she could have easily just told her which flavours they offered. It probably took longer for her to try and teach my mother a lesson.
After ordering, the adults noticed that the little girls had no cutlery, or water. So they asked the server for them, which they say felt like a major imposition based on how the server responded. She did not seem happy to help, rather, she seemed annoyed to help.
After this, the mother of the young girls needed more water for herself. She asked the waitress which, you guessed it, responded in an annoyed manner. She never did get that refill, and she was too scared to ask for it again.
Sounds to me like this server needs some more training on how to be a professional in the service industry. She is giving your restaurant a bad rep.
They wanted me to stress that the hostess was very kind when they came in, and that their food was delicious, and to please give compliments to the...
Read moreSitting at the bar. Waited 20 minutes while being ignored. Finally someone asked me if I wanted a drink.
Staff seems more interested in gossiping with the local customers who are whining about their relationships while yelling across the room.
The one person who was serving me complained that it was "quitting time I think" which really makes me feel welcome (sarcasm) (Tracy). Kitchen staff came out and there was a very terse interchange between him and her with a tone of disrespect. She spent more time gossiping with the loud mouthed local than anything else. She dropped a plastic pitcher on the floor but was more interested in her phone and never did pick up the dropped pitcher, 15 mins later it's still on the floor.
Food was mediocre but ffs, Do your gossip on your own time and serve a customer.
Not impressed, napkin around the cutlery was stained with tomato sauce, the bartender ignored me my entire visit. No one checked if my meal was satisfactory (soup was spilled onto the garlic bread making a soggy gross mess) no one asked me if I wanted water or another drink. Salad was tasteless, soggy and while generous, a big portion of ick is still ick.
And my empty soup bowl has sat beside me the whole time.
When someone came to inform them they were sitting in a particular spot the server was condescending.
This was "fun" but in reality this was the worst Boston pizza experience I've ever had and I cannot think of any reason to ever return. Pretty sure I'd rather pick a fight with my ex and eat hot dogs cooked over a sewage fire. Can't blame this on being busy. 4 service staff and maybe 25 people in the lounge
Been done eating for 20 mins. Maybe...
Read moreI don't know how the one in Olds, Alberta compares with others, but we love the people that work at this one.
The thing about BP's is that you know exactly what your going to get. Your food is exactly the same this time as it was last time. While you can argue about the taste of their pizza all you like, it's all a matter of personal preference, I don't happen to like their pizza that much. The food is typical quality, the portions sizes are fair. The food is very consistent, you get the exact same level of quality every single time. There's nothing on the menu that's really outstanding, but it's all consistently decent.
Pricing : I find the prices to be a little more expensive than independent restaurants. Pasta in particular is pricey, and considering it's the cheapest thing for them to make, it's sort lousy. They have higher prices to push the image of having higher quality food I suppose. Too bad the food is merely average. The service is good, especially in the lounge, where they've got some fantastic floor staff.
This is actually a positive review. We frequent this place more so than any other restaurant. Mostly because we know what we'll get at Boston Pizza, and the staff are tremendous. But we never feel like it's a treat, or something special, mostly because the food is average, and the prices...
