I was with a group of ladies for a planned Saturday out and we decided to stop in and check out Boulevard for lunch. We're all new to the area or visiting from Calgary but heard great reviews about the chef. Checked the menu and something for everyone! So we thought... arrived and were told by the host that its a limited lunch menu (it was 1:30 pm) and the main menu didn't start for a few more hours. I said we checked the website/menu online and didn't see a lunch menu, just a breakfast and dinner menu. I was very quickly corrected by the host that "Its right there! The snack menu!" Like I should somehow have known because its "been like this since September" that there is a limited mid day menu called a Snack Menu, including for weekends when people are likely to be out and about for a lunch spot. We are not familiar with Red Deer as were new/visiting and the no one goes looking for meus assuming that a snack menu is supposed to be the lunch menu and no times are listed for when each menu is "in effect". We were not impressed but avoiding confrontation further, decided to stay. Pretty sad when you have a noted Chef and 4/6 guest order chicken fingers... So much for a great lunch experience with a chef who should know how to bring great food to the table. The veg spring rolls and firecracker shrimp were average at best. The chicken fingers scored well but everyone was disappointed this was all the menu could offer our group instead of a tasteful experience. Service was rude. Food was average. Experience overall was a 1/5 and guess where we wont EVER be back for lunch again. Also skipped for dinner last time we ventured out for something new. You lost a customer after that. Leaving a generous 2/5 review
Recommendations: Train your staff on having polite manners. Update your website/menu to clearly label a lunch menu and times when each...
Read moreLast evening a party of 8 of us went to the Boulevard restaurant as we had been at the Westerner and their sales manager was there with a table advertising world class cuisine and he did a great job of talking up the restaurant. We in total had a bill well over $300 and would have been more had the service been better. We ordered drinks to start and a few of us had caesar's that were to come with specific garnishes for each kind of caesar according to the menu. That did not happen. We were told that the chef was ranked 3rd world wide with the likes of Gordon Ramsay and found the food mediocre at best. Our waitress was less than attentive and was complaining under her breath how busy she was. After our meal we were waiting to order dessert and we waited...and waited... then we asked another server to find ours and we waited... and waited. Then we asked a 3rd server to pack our leftovers at which time our original server came back but after the wait we were no longer interested in dessert. It was my husband's birthday which we mentioned several times but she chose to ignore and so asked for the bill. She separated it incorrectly and so we waited some more... The other thing is my daughter is getting married and we really went to see what it was like because we were considering holding the wedding there for about 250 guests but that will no longer happen either. So here's a tip, you never know who you are serving or what the purpose of their visit is. What was a $300 meal could have easily been a $500 meal plus a generous tip and a wedding booking for 250 but will now be a bad review and...
Read moreSo I reserved a table Friday night for my husband's birthday. When we came in we were greated nicely by our server Loudia. Overall she provided very nice service the whole visit. The tables are nicely set and comfortable. Our starter of grilled flat bread was delicious. We came to try the prime rib special. It was delicious. We got two sides with our meal. My husband got the ceasar salad and I chose the Tuscan salad. Both very beatiful looking and delicious. We both chose the baked potato which was very disappointing. Everything else was so high end and beatiful and I said I've had better potatoes at a fast food joint because at least they have real bacon bits and soft butter. Sorry rock hard butter and hard bacon bits aren't going to do it for me. Everything else was just so elevated and the potato just fell flat. However since everything else was so good I can't take any stars off over a baked potato. The cocktail I ordered was perfect. The special sangria. It had fresh mint, orange and berries. I loved the one large round ice cube. Just beatiful. Definitely...
