Big Rock Inn — Restaurant in Alberta

I'm guessing new management here within the past year! Unfortunately we won't be back! The buffet used to be awesome food, but now disappointing. It is expensive eating out these days and we found most of the food had very little flavor, the soup wasn't hot, we had to ask for soup bowls, asked for the dish of caesar salad to be replenished, which it was with some lettuce and dressing on it, not really how caesar salad is made! The shrimp weren't peeled before they were breaded and deep fried. Constructive criticism was given about the shrimp not being peeled, but met with a reply that he should phone them next time so they can do that just for him!

It's interesting the response from the owner seems to be the same. 'Sorry the experience wasn't great" !! I want to support small business and when you pay a lot of money for a buffet and legitimate comments are made I would expect the response would be that they will look into the issues and correct them so people want...

Big Rock Inn was my favourite place in Okotoks. I ordered take out last night and found out they were under new management so couldn't get my usual. i asked if the recipes had changed and was assured they had not. Ordered the new dinner for two, which for some reason there was no substitutions or changes allowed. Surprise - the recipes had totally changed. The ginger beef (which the menu still notes as spicy) was strangely pale looking and lacked any spice or ginger flavour. The chicken fried rice was tasteless, lacked chicken (had larger pieces of egg which was nice) but no flavour of its own. The rice had the consistency of instant rice and was mushy and weird. While I appreciate change can be good, this was not a good change. Made an order for pick up during a slow point of the day zero cars parked out front. Business was empty inside, One staff member on. I paid for my takeout order. Arrived home to open up. Disgustingly dried out lemon Sue guy and dried out chewy almost transparent, ginger beef when I called to ask about having the two dishes that were Terrible refunded I was told I could have 10% off next time and that they were super busy she would have to call me back.
