So we have our wedding in September of this year in Sundre. Were all from Calgary, so I googled good BBQ places for our rehearsal dinner, and Kodiak BBQ popped up! I emailed right away as we already have a caterer for the Saturday of the wedding, but required a catered dinner for the rehearsal. My inlaws said it was a must to have vs just ordering Pizza lol.
The lack of communication is the reason for the 1 star review.
I emailed and filled out their form online stating it was for the rehearsal dinner, and if they had availability! I had my credit card at the ready for them to contact me and book. I received an email from a guy named Tom right away stating "We usually do the main wedding meals, how many people would you have at the Friday dinner ?" Which I thought was a little odd to say cause what does it matter which event its for? But anyways, I emailed back stating about 40 ppl....and then crickets and never heard from them again. I even followed up with "are you available" email and nothing.
If Kodiak BBQ ONLY does weddings, no bdays, special events, rehearsals etc they should put that on their website. My in-laws were quite excited to pay for a full catered dinner from these guys, which could range from $2000 + dollars, but apparently if you don't hire them for the wedding, its a no go. So please be warned before...

The prioritization of catering over simply notifying on social media or updating opening hours online so people don't come to the store is quite a feat to achieve in the realm of lackadaisical champions. Especially if you are sitting less than two metres from the front door and illumated opening hours sign.
The food is amazing, there is no doubt, when and if you can actually get it after making the...
Read moreMy husband and I dropped this morning, after a long 2-hour drive. We had never been there before.
There was no one in the restaurant but us and what I presume is an owner or other staff. The server there barked at us (we didn't hear what she said) "do you want coffee?" When I said "yes but he (my husband) does not." She the barked "well what does he want?" When he said "what do you have?", she again barked at us "all drinks are right here (in a Deli case), menus are on tables." She was very annoyed that we didn't immediately know what we wanted upon first entering a restaurant we had never been before. We decided to leave and when we said "we don't anything from here anymore," she again barked in dismay "you don't want anything anymore??!!"
Look, people have bad days I get it. But whoever owns this restaurant should not allow for this kind of behavior to go unchecked. Have no idea how the food would have been, simply because of the...
