Swamp Donkeys Pub — Restaurant in Alberta

This was not a good place for me. The atmosphere and ambiance is pretty cool. I love the rustic, country feel of it and the music in this place makes you want to get up and dance. It is a sociable place that would be a perfect place to hang for a drink. Sadly, this is where the good ends.

The service was detestable. I barely got any attention when I was there. It's true that this place was busy but is that really a good excuse? In the service industry you have to pay attention to your customers. I felt ignored a lot with the servers. They never asked me how I was nor did they give me any information about the food. In fact, the one server didn't even know what kind of drinks they had in this establishment. It's clear that there is a lack of training and communication. This server was nice though but my other one seemed to have some kind of problem with me, especially when I ask about my food even though it was over 35 minutes that I was waiting for it.

I ordered a drink that unfortunately I did not like. It sat at my table for an extra 25 minutes. Finally when the server approached me I let her know that it didn't taste very good. She finally took it away.

So after waiting for nearly an hour, I have had enough. She tells me that my food is being worked on right that moment, I decided to leave. Good on them for not charging me for anything but I did not appreciate the attitudes, lateness, and general disorganization of this pub. They can really do better. It is nothing short of...

The humble owners may poke fun at themselves calling their establishment swamp donkeys however after my experience I would name it lagoon thoroughbred. It starts off with a great location which is a simple jaunt from the main hotel in town. To provide context we had a large group of guys just off the course for our annual boys golf trip and most restaurants would not be excited to see us coming however swamp donkeys was thrilled for our arrival and immediately sat us in a prime area of the establishment and immediately started taking our drink orders and giving excellent recommendations on what to order for food. The food and drinks were equally matched to the amazing entertainment and ambience this restaurant provides. It truly is a perfect one stop location for our group. After a superb meal you can make your way over to the karokee and impress everyone with Rockstar performance we even had one guy convince the restaurant that miss you by blink 182 is a banger. You might think the sundre resort golf course is the reason we keep coming back for our annual golf trip but I think if you were to ask it would be for swamp donkeys. Keep up the...

I really like this place for the 3 times we have gone. The first two times we bought burgers, fries and a drink. As for beer, they have the usual suspects, but they also have some craft. The burgers are delicious and worth going there just for those.

Our friends recommended we try the wings so we went a third time. We ordered wings that are a combo of honey and hot, and a plate of nachos.

The wings did not disappoint! I'm not sure they are the best I've had, but they may well be. At the very least I would say within the 3 best I've ever had. They are meaty, very saucy - and the sauce is certainly a winner. The nachos were more a good average. They had layered the nachos, but the cheese on the 2nd level was not melted at all. Not bad though

This pub is certainly worth a visit, if for no other reason to enjoy a plate of wings.
