Vimy's Lounge and Grill — Restaurant in Alberta

We went there on the evening of Sept 12 for dinner at around 5:30 after arriving in Waterton in the afternoon and checking into our room at the same hotel the restaurant is located. After sitting there for 15 minutes with no attention I went and asked the bar staff if we could possibly get someone to serve us. As a server came to bring us water another couple were seated at the table next to ours. This will becaome important as we proceed. When our server returned she asked them first if they would like to order. They graciously said we had been waiting longer and could she take ours first. She did this and then left them sitting there returning thereafter to get their food order. Tick Tick. Out comes their food order before ours and they were finished eating and paid their bill while we are still sitting there. When paying their bill the waitress gives them a 25% discount for the inconvenience of having to wait so long for their food. At last our food appears which actually was pretty good. I had the pasta special which was on for eight dollars less than usual. Hold onto that thought too. When the our bill comes there is no mention of a discount for us despite the fact we had to ask for service and then wait about one hour and 15 minutes for our meals to appear. Maybe they thought because the meal was already discounted I could spring for the whole bill unlike my dining compatriots. So all in all if you plan to eat here be prepared for a long wait. Maybe they were short staffed like a lot of places now but I would have apprecited some type of acknowledgemant that it took an inordinately long time to gey our food and then to have someone else pay less while we got dinged...

Went with a group for dinner, we were the only group in restaurant that hadn’t already been served food. We knew what we want right when we sat down and they still didn’t get our orders in for 40 minutes after we got there. Note we were the only people needing to be served. It took our server Alex about 20 minutes just to get drinks. By the time we had finished food it had been about 2 and a half hours and groups showing up well after us were served way faster. It only took us about 15 to 20 minutes to eat. When it came to paying there was no option to not tip and Alex addressed us as a group pressuring us to tip and stating we didn’t believe in gratuity. Half of our group (3 people) had already payed and tipped well. That was the quality of the service. The food was the fish and chips and the steak special between 5 people. Fish was flavorless and had no smell. It was eating we paper towel. I personally had the steak which came with potatoes and cauliflower and broccoli. Broccoli and cauliflower were both insanely crunchy, pale, and dry, potatoes were so dry that even with small bites I still had to wash it down with water. Steak was supposed to be medium rare but was way overcooked and very hard to chew. It was like trying to chew a wet leather boot, it was difficult to cut and even harder to chew. It was also flavorless and had no taste of steak or beef. Another one of my group who also got the steak special had the same things wrong with his dish. We were all completely miffed at Alex and the restaurant for their service and how we were treated for very kindly saying the food wasn’t cooked well and being verbally bullied for not tipping(only one of us...

Terrible food and worse service. Nice views but that’s all.

The sign said wait to be seated but the server/bartender continuously ignored people, including us, waiting to be sat. The poutine was lackluster due to the gravy being subpar; don’t expect delicious Canadian poutine from this place. Our main dishes took easily 20 minutes to come out after ordering. Husband ordered a bison burger which he described as “meh, it was an average burger.” I ordered chicken pita, which came completely messed up, to the point I sent it back and didn’t order another meal because I didn’t care to wait even longer for food at that point. The chicken pita came with two halves of a chicken breast (never had a pita that didn’t have shredded chicken and just came with chicken breasts in it); it didn’t have tatziki which it should’ve had; it didn’t have feta and when I tried to ask for it I was brought three gigantic cubes (not something you can easily put on a pita sandwich); and it came with pickles which were never advertised and do not go on pitas.

The waitress was the bartender and she was honestly one of the worst servers I’ve ever had, and seemed inconvenienced by doing her job. I used to serve myself so I am more lenient and understanding of what goes on backend but this experience was just awful and wasted at least an hour of our time.
