Golden Gate Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Amherstburg

Unfortunately my experience was terrible with this restaurant. I called and ordered my food at 6:45. They told me it would not be ready until 8 PM. I understand, it’s Mother’s Day and they were very busy. I got to the restaurant at 8 PM and picked up my food. Came home open the box and the food was barely lukewarm. When I opened the lid to the gravy, the gravy was solid. None of the food was warmer than room temperature and some was cooler than room temperature. I called to let them know. The young lady answering the phone was very courteous, very kind and I believe she did her best to try to help me out. She went to talk to the manager and the manager said that next time I come in they would give me a free gravy. Really? That’s what they will do to make sure I am a happy patron. I ordered a combo plate and was thinking they might replace it? No. A free gravy is all they would do. I’m sorry I will never order from this restaurant again and I will be letting everyone I know of this experience. So sad that customer service is not...

This is the worst Chinese food I have tasted. We ordered take out and the food tasted like it was old. The fried rice was stuck together and covered in the sauce from my General Tao, Egg rolls were old and the insides was dried out, it was difficult to even bite them. When I called to talk to them about the issues with the food the owner was downright ignorant and insisted the food was fresh and they make the Egg rolls every morning, told me to leave my name and they will give me extra Egg roll to replace the ones that were in my meal next time we order!! While trying to explain about the meal she said "I don't have time to talk about it. leave your name and I will replace the egg rolls", at which she hung up the call. If you are looking for a decent Chinese meal I suggest you take the time to go to somewhere outside of Amherstburg as this place is a waste of your...

Went with my family for the buffet dinner on a week night. Wasn't expecting fresh because week days usually aren't busy for buffets.

Went to fill my plate for round 1...as I expected, not much there.

The owner saw me looking at what was avaliable and came up to me. He said he'd make what ever I wanted and started cooking and adding food to the buffet.

He brought out, in small but fresh batches, a bunch of different dishes.

He was super nice and genuinely cared about our experience.

I've eaten there plenty of times but this was the first time with the new owner...what a difference!!!

We had an excellent meal and look forward to going back. It was so good.

Just some advice...Bring back Shanghai...
