Recently, my family of four visited Snowshoe Sam’s for lunch, and while the food and drinks were delicious, our experience was marred by some unexpected service issues.
Our server, Raquel, was friendly and engaging at first, and we enjoyed chatting with her. My dad made a light-hearted joke about her name, which she responded to by referencing an actress we weren't all familiar with. This seemed to create a bit of disconnect in our conversation, and while we tried to keep the mood light, it felt like the tone shifted.
Unfortunately, midway through our meal, we were switched to another server. While the new server was nice, her apology for the “confusion” felt awkward and didn’t ease the discomfort we felt from the transition. It left us puzzled about what had happened and why the switch occurred.
Despite the service hiccups, we thoroughly enjoyed our smash burgers and drinks, which were truly top-notch. We appreciate the effort that goes into the food and hope that future visits will be smoother.
We’ll definitely return, hoping for improved communication and service, as we’d love to enjoy more wonderful days at Snowshoe Sam’s without the awkwardness we experienced this time. We wish Raquel the best and hope she can find ways to enhance her communication skills if she remains in the service industry. Thank you for the delicious...
Read moreThis was by far the worst restaurant/pub I’ve been to in a very long time. First of all we ordered drinks from the “featured menu” that was on every table. When the drinks arrived my friend got the completely wrong drink. When we asked the waitress to change it she came back with a different drink that was still not right. When we told her it wasn’t right she asked “What is it you really want?” We pointed to the menu and she told us they didn’t have simple syrup and they didn’t really make “fancy drinks”. This was a drink on their “featured menu!” We then tried to order nachos and were told they didn’t make them but they had something similar with potatoes. When they arrived it was a small plate of tater-tots with melted cheese and sour cream and salsa on the side. Looked like prison food! Lastly I went to the washroom when we were leaving and out of the 5 stalls; 2 were out of order, one had no lock, one had a broken lock and only 1 was properly functioning plus the paper towel dispenser was empty! We will never go...
Read moreWent for dinner last night for “Light up big white”. We ordered the fish and chips one piece. Wow, $17 for one piece extremely overcooked fish, no tartar sauce and the coleslaw, well it was cabbage smothered in mayo. I would not recommend this to anyone... Also the beers, for $7 the draft beer was tiny. This place is way too overpriced for the portions size. I can get a two piece fish and chips done perfectly with amazing coleslaw at cactus club for $15... also they offer $5.50 pints of draft beer.
I understand big white is a destination and I come up every other weekend. The owner could definitely upgrade the portion sizes, the whole meal couldn’t have cost the owner...
