Kootenay Coffee Works — Restaurant in Area F (Columbia Lake/Windermere Lake)

Baked goods were, well, not good. The treat my lady friend ordered was not good and she ended up taking three bites offering me a taste and we ended up tossing it away. The banana bread was pedantic with no banana flavor and very dry. My Mocha tasted more like a warmed up cup of chocolate milk than a good espresso based chocolate treat, and my girlfriend's drink was also below or just average when compared to other coffee shops we frequent in our travels. The service, while very friendly, seemed to be entirely confused and was slow. They were super busy at the time - likely because the "Stolen Church" coffee shop in town was closed for some minor renovations for the day - so some forgiveness for the confusion should be offered. Not overly impressed and if "Stolen Church" is open next visit to town we will be going there like we usually do instead. Sorry to say, we were disappointed. The woman working the till was so abrupt and rude that she created a palpable, extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome environment. I could tell others in line were uncomfortable as they whispered to each other after this woman would respond dismissively and with audible annoyance to whoever was unlucky enough to be placing an order or asking a simple question. Not only that but the staff seemed equally uncomfortable, though they still had a whole shift ahead of them. I won’t mention the food or drink as this place could be serving beluga caviar and it wouldn’t make a difference as everything would be overshadowed by the poor service. Always love finding little local coffee shops and restaurants! And while this place did not disappoint in tasty treats and coffee, I was absolutely disgusted in the women working there. A young boy very kindly helped us and took our order then she came up to the front huffing around and treated him so poorly in front of us calling him names and muttering under her voice. She also did not even acknowledge us. Then a police officer came in and she was nice as pie to him and then continued her rude rant after he left.
