So, I have been here multiple times before deciding to write my review. I have to say the only reason I've returned is because it's the only conveniently located food truck that has poutine and for the desire to try multiple types of poutine - best so far, hands down is the pulled pork poutine!! The worst - pizza poutine, as they use marinara sauce instead of gravy and it's quite gross especially as it gets cold very quickly.
Anyway, I give them the credit for being the only poutine dedicated place around.
Unfortunately, as someone from Quebec (where poutine originates), it is an absolute disgrace to poutine to use crinkle cut fries, nevermind them being frozen McCain fries (but hey, I'm just a picky Irish Quebecer who loves some good potatoes).
Also, I'd like to mention that the owner should show by example to her young employees (cheers to hiring all teens btw) ways of treating their clients respectfully no matter how busy/stressful things get! It seems one of the times that they were backed up and someone complained about it taking so long, the owner told her employees that she "should have told them to come in here and make their own food!" after telling the clients that they "can't do it all". Clearly to me shows a disconnect from what the restaurant service industry...
Read moreWe stopped for a quick lunch, as many restaurants seem to be closed on Monday in Invermere. It was our first time trying Poutine Queen even though we're here every summer for a number of weeks.
My wife decided on the traditional poutine with the crispy fries on the suggestion of the Poutine Queen herself. I went for the Donair poutine with the Yukon Gold fries. The poutines were quite large and had lots of flavourful gravy and cheese curds. The Donair poutine was definitely bigger due to all the additional toppings. We both greatly enjoyed our meals and we're definitely full afterwards. We both commented that the crispy fries seemed saltier than the Yukon Gold fries. However, the Yukon Gold fries didn't seem to hold up to the gravy as well as the crispy fries did, so it comes down to personal preference.
The shop is very clean but quite small inside, just big enough for a handful of people and to place orders, but there's lots of seating outdoors where the beautiful scenery and weather can be enjoyed. The staff were very friendly and provided some great suggestions.
We'll definitely stop again and try some of their other poutine creations in the future, although I may have a hard time straying away from the Donair poutine as it was...
Read moreI was surprisingly impressed. I am not much one for burgers, and I will be honest, I had planned to go to Smokehouse 93 for lunch but they had closed for renos. I was hangry and not about to continue to drive around to find something that would not cost an arm and a leg for a preschooler. So we ate here. They had a hot dog which my kiddo ate (it was about $4.50 or so but there is no Costco around where you can get one for $1.50). Hubby and I each had a burger and we shared fries (not poutine son I cannot review that). It was surprisingly delicious! Yes, the fried are frozen crinkle cut and if it were a true poutine place, I too would expect fresh cut. But the burgers were so good. Thick but not greasy or dry and very well seasoned.
Also very...
