AMAZING! Simply an amazing dining experience!
The fusion of complex favors, artistic presentation and vibrant colors makes the meal seem more like delicously edible artwork!
The restaurant has a very cozy appeal that when coupled with the owner Manvendra's smile and warm hospitality makes it feel as if you just walked into a old friends home for dinner. The menu selections are VERY diverse with so many tastes its no doubt surely able to suit most any persons palet with both vegetarian options as well as traditional animal protein based dishes with various meats such as chicken, beef, lamb, goat, fish and shrimp.
We had two meals, one a Beef Palek paired with Saffron rice and Cheese Naan bread with Kingfisher beer, other a Lamb Palek with a Coconut infused rice and Savory potoato stuffed Naan bread with a Kingfisher beer. The table came with a complimentary papadums which can be described as a crunchy Indian version of what could be best described as something similar to a tortilla chip but far more savory and tasty. Portion size was very generous with both of our meals with both of use unable to finish our meals. And we are big eaters and big time foodies who travel often in search of unique eateries.
It's important to note for new comers to Indian cuisine that Indian food is often though as being always blazing hot, but that could not be further from the truth. The Chef has the ability to produce near all dishes including the legendary Vindaloo dish in anything from mild to medium to hot to wild. The heat can be made to suit nearly anyone's spiciness desires weather that be on either extreme end of the spice spectrum.
It's also worth noting that the chef and owner Manvendra are more then happy to explain their menu options for newcomers so as to guide you though the menu choices should you not be familiar with the ingredients and or dishes or how to pair the various dishes togther, such as a Vindaloo dish with a seasoned rice dish and Naan bread.
Indian food is unlike any other in the world, it has complex flavor profiles that are finely tuned to meld together to create a blend of sweet, savory, tart, spice and textures to create a dinning experience often not found in other more traditional Canadian restaurants.
This restaurant, meaning its Owner and Chefs are a hidden Gem in Arnprior. Arnprior residents are extremely lucky to have such big city authentic ethnic quality food practically at there doorstep.
The Owner and Chefs efforts and dedication can clearly be seen, experienced and of course smelt and tasted with their superb service and excellently crafted dishes.
We highly recommend anyone and everyone give it a try, that is to mean newcomers or experienced Indian food lovers and everyone else in between. Simply put, this restaurant has something for everyone including the entire family both young and old.
Don't be shy, give it a try! You'll be very glad you did and most likely find that it will become your new favorite home away from home ethinic eatery. It's also worth noting that have a large patio for the warmer seasons which helps provide a variety of seating arrangements to suit most anyone's mood at the time.

Read moreWe eat at a lot of Indian restaurants. We've tried really bad ones to the really good ones all the way from Montreal to Ottawa. There have only so far been three that have lived up to the Google reviews they received. Negi Indian Cuisine is one of the three!
The restaurant is small but clean. The hostess/waitress was kind and welcoming. She made us feel right at home in a place 3 hrs away from home.
We ordered several dishes for take out. Chicken curry, lamb jalfrezi, butter chicken, paneer shashlik, okara, tandoori chicken, vegetable samosas, onion bhaji, butter naan, garlic naan, rice, and gulab jamun. All of our dishes were spot on! The sauces were perfectly saucy (none of that sauce that just seems like spices simmered in water till they thicken kind of stuff). The tandoori was tender and juicy. The paneer...oh my! Even the butter chicken was, to our surprise and delight, not sweet at all. The gulab jamun was the perfect sweet bite at the end of our meal made even better with a touch of coconut flakes on top.
We cannot recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back. And thanks to our friends who recommended it to us!
(edited to add second review)
We returned to this place tonight before returning home. We were met with the same friendly faces. And while we waited for our take out order, we were served water, pappadum and masala tea.
Our order consisted of lamb jalfrezi (just as good as the first time), then we tried aloo gobi. It was great. The potatoes were cooked just tender. The cauliflower was far from over cooked. And there was just enough tomato in this dish to brighten without making it tomatoey. We also tried the chicken tikka masala. It was perfectly saucy with little bites of sweet peppers and onions.
Everything from this place that we have tried so far...
Read moreIt honestly pains me to write this review as we have been loyal Negi customers since they opened. The food is good but unfortunately the service has really gone down hill. This is the third take out order in a row that had issues with.
We ordered take out tonight and when I arrived to pay I noticed the amount wasn’t right. I asked and was told they didn’t have Tandoori chicken but stated they didn’t call as they were too busy. I said that’s unfortunate as I would have picked a different item to make sure I had enough food. The lady at the counter was non apologetic and actually had just hoped I wouldn’t notice. I then still had to wait 30 minutes after my pick up time for my partial order of food, When I got home I realized our order was also missing another part of the order that I had paid for. So now I’m also out money for an item we didn’t receive.
Also they have a table set up for eat in right at the take out counter. I felt awful for the couple having to sit there when there were other tables in the restaurant that had chairs on top and another with a family member sitting at that were more out of the way of take out customers.
Later, I recalled that their tandoori oven was broken the last time we ordered several months ago. So unfortunate that it’s been out for so long when it a key menu item. However, despite that, I wouldn’t have been as disappointed had they been up front with me, or had they been apologetic or had they gotten the rest of the order right or had it been the first mess up. But after 3 messed up orders in a row we have unfortunately decided that we will no longer be ordering from Negi unless the...
