Rated 1 star due to the lack of service received last night with my young family (wife, 4 month old girl, 4 year old girl) everything started well, no need for reservation for 5:30 dinner due to young children, reception was good, drinks were ordered fine except no option for children cups with lids which is not uncommon. It all went down hill when our entrees came with a sworm of what appeared to be fruit flies or some other pesty small size fly. We tried to tolerate them as best as possible but they kept coming (mind you we are eating inside near the kitchen). My young girl started freaking out and could not eat her dinner due to these constant pests diving into our plates. My baby was also having them fly onto her car seat and inside her cover. After many servers walked by us as we were also close to the bar, no one decided to stop and ask if we were ok while we kept swapping these flys away until I had enough and asked for the manager. He came and apologized and said they seem to be coming from a big old sign they have near the bar and said they would move us to a table a few sections down and bring our infested food over to us. At this point we just wanted to ensure we ate as much as we can even though some flies were still coming at us due to being on our food and all over are belongings and my daughters car seat so we ate what we could baring the situation asked for a price of chocolate cake as wanted my daughter to take her mind off the experience. Than we waited some time for our server to check back in with us and with small children on schedules we typically like to check out after eating. No one came so I had seen the manager standing nearby and had asked him politely if he could arrange the check. Our server came to the table with the check and no discount or even a price of cake on the house for the negative experience. We have lived in Aurora for 2 years and enjoy the various restaurants nearby and have visited this place many times and even ordered takeout without any issues. We left last night extremely disappointed and will not return our refer anyone here as we did...
Read moreI went to a special event at The Rose Gallery. I was with people I’d never met before but there was a consensus that everyone wanted a drink and. One wanted dinner. Since I am from Aurora I suggested Awe Shucks a few doors down from the gallery. There were thirteen persons. The sever was immediately concerned about the number of persons and suggested we sit in the other side of the room. After obliging her wishes we were told that the it would be one bill and 20% service fee. The only connection this group of people had was that we came from a public event. We decided to split ourselves into two groups. So that we did not have to share a bill. Then the server came back and said you can’t split yourselves up, even though she told us that the maximum in a group is 8 persons. She said it was the manager who told her this. A person in the group asked to speak to manager. He came and hotly said “what’s going on?”. We explained the situation and told him we didn’t really know each other. Then he said, “don’t worry I’ll see what I can do”. After walking away someone in the group said, “but you are the manager”. It was at this point that he turned around and scolded the group by saying, “I don’t like your attitude, if you don’t want to be here leave.” We all sat there stunned at his lack of professionalism and courtesy. It was at this point that everyone got up and left. No one was being rude in the group and as customers we have the right to make requests especially when we are paying way more than what we use to in the past. I feel bad that I suggested Awe Shucks I never had a problem when I to frequented this restaurant in the past. I’m sorry the service has evolved...
Read moreI was there for a Birthday Party and one with my wife of approx 25+ people. The servers were very friendly and accommodating, but I guess with a large group, sometimes orders fall through the cracks and requests can be forgotten, even when reminded. But they are so damned nice it's easy to let it go...we did get the extras eventually. I ordered the Mussels and figuring they were a seafood establishment, would be on top of the game. Worst mussels I've ever had, now this could be an anomaly in all fairness and I should go back to see if they get it right, but I've never had cold and raw mussels in a tepid-cool/warm sauce. Like someone steamed them earlier in the day anticipating a crowd for a Sat night, put them in the fridge and when serving, took them out, put a hot fresh off the stove-top sauce on them hoping that would finish off the cooking of the mussels.Ramsey would have had a fit. I had them returned and they brought me my dish back eventually. The sauce was hotter, but still only warm, the mussels were warmer, a little more cooked but still raw. Overall not their best or proudest day for mussels. Aw Shucks.... Unfortunately too many Restaurants over-cook mussels. Under-cooked, you can still eat them as long as the sauce is bearable... Later I went to the Bar to order Drinks, and unfortunately the server again was not on her game as she lost track of the queue and didn't think that was her job to keep track.... Man has the profession taken a hit....This place has a lot of potential, as it turns into a music/DJ dance venue.. just needs to work out a few kinks....So, the jury is still out for me but it's worth a first time visit...you decide...
