Service is bad, employees don’t care about valid feedback to improve, and make tons of excuses. The food… to say it’s bad is an understatement. If you like Big Bone BBQ and you’ve been to a Newmarket location a few years ago, do not try this place- you will be utterly disappointed. As you can see in the photos, the ribs are dry. They taste freezer burnt, chicken wings are undercooked, fries are soggy and so is the cornbread. Coleslaw just smelled funky, like it’s gone bad. If you visit the location it will all make sense to you. The employees are from South Asia… it is ridiculous that people that have never had pork are making the ribs… they simply don’t know how to cook pork or work with it. It’s like going to a steakhouse and being served by vegans… food industry is not a joke and people making the food should have passion for what they make. People at this place have no clue what their food tastes like because they’re not allowed to have it. This is a recipe for a disaster and I hope to see this restaurant fail because the owner should not make money off of serving terrible tasting food, possibly old meat and be getting away with it. To the owner’s response: LOOK AT ALL THE BAD REVIEWS and stop making excuses. Proves my point, your employees don’t know how to make food and instead of taking the criticism and improving, you just called my review racist and claimed you guys know what you’re doing. Also, there are grammatical errors in your response, and I hope that doesn’t come across as racist, just stating the obvious. Your food tastes bad, and bad reviews are there for a reason. Learn from them, rather than deflecting and acting like an ostrich. Look at the pictures I’ve attached, does it look quality to you?

Beyond disappointed. Quite disgusted by everything about this place, the food and how I was treated as a customer. I waited 30 minutes for my food as I had not called in advance which was totally fine. Got home and found out my order was missing a kids burger with cheese which I had paid for. I called to let them know what happened and girl at the front passed the phone over to her manager. I told him what happened and all he kept saying was”I made it and put in a box..” I told him I got a container of fries but it was missing the kids burger. I honestly did not want to drive back and get the food they missed but I felt bad for my daughter as she had been waiting patiently and was very hungry. I could really care less about the 12 bucks it cost me. To sum it up, the manager was very unprofessional and rude and accused me of making all this up and did not offer a resolution. I had even told him to check the other orders as they may have put my daughter’s burger in someone else’s order. He continued to be rude and unprofessional and said there was nothing he could do. When I told him that he leaves me no choice but to write a review about this, he hung up on me. I have been to Big Bone in Newmarket and remember the food being really good. Everything tasted fresh and made from scratch. The portions were big. The food we got was almost inedible and cost almost 50 bucks. The food obviously reflects the people that work there. This location is ruining the franchise. There has to be something done about this location or it may end up closing down. You don’t treat prople or customers like that in general.

I ordered two pulled pork sandwich dinners along with the pulled pork potato skins. Not looking in the container until I got home and realizing that the potato skins were rock hard and the pulled pork seemed like it had sat out all day. Not to mention, it was burnt beyond belief. I am actually shocked that they would feed that to a customer. The pulled pork sandwich was no different, it two was burnt but not as bad. When I went back to the store, the owner tried to tell me that the pulled pork is always that way. It used to be such a great place and the most delicious pulled pork sandwich in Barrie. After spending $50 it would’ve been nice if they added a napkin and maybe a fork to the meal as well. I wish the old owners would come back!

To be honest, this place used to be my all time favorite! But the last couple visits, it seems like the place has gone entirely downhill. A few months ago, I hyped the restaurant up to some friends. So we all decided to go. We got there at opening on a Saturday, so did the person running it. They had got there after we did. Therefore, nothing was heated, started or ready for opening... We waited over an hour for our food which we were informed we would have to wait when entering. Which okay, we will wait because like I said, I hyped this place up. Even an hour after waiting, myself and my friend who both got the pulled pork were appalled that both our sandwiches were cold. Not just luke warm but freezing cold. We spent $125 on cold food that day. The second time we came back after this experience, was again a Saturday an hour before closing. When we came in to order, we were told by the same person that served us the previous Saturday, that they were closing in an hour, therefore had turned everything off so were no longer serving anyone. An hour before close? Why have service hours if you can't even be served during those hours. Last time and final time we went was again, a weekend and the service was terrible, the food was cold and we again spent so much money to be disappointed. The only time you can get good food from this establishment is during the week. If it's a weekend, please don't bother going. You will be...
