The setup and decoration is super adorable and super fitting for afternoon tea. Really liked how the place looked and felt. The afternoon tea food/snacks are tasty and fresh, however not worth the price. Service is abmismal.
Had reservations for afternoon tea. Got there at the exact time and there was one server and one lady behind counter on phone. Server seemed clueless to our presence. Mind you there was only 3 tables filled. After waiting to be acknowledged she finally sat us down. You'd think having reservations, they would at least have a table ready. Not the case. We waited while she set up the table. We got out tea 15 mins after arrival but not the food. The sugar bowl was practically empty and we had no cutlery so couldn't stir our tea. Finally I got up to go ask. She again seemed clueless. Never got refill for sugar so I had to go take a bow from another table. Food came 15 mins later and by that time tea was no longer hot, just warm. Considering they knew it was for high tea at a certain time, they would have food already under way, table ready etc. The entire time server basically ignored us except when to bring out tea and the food
Considering this is $40 per person, the quantity, quality and service is just not worth it. I really wanted to like the place since its much closer tha. my favorite tos for high tea is Old Mill Inn and Prince of Wales hotel in Niagara on the Lake but I just can't justify returning. I would rather have to drive and go to any of those places for their $60/p high tea than...
Read moreReview: Campbell's British Tea Room – Barrie, Ontario Nestled on Burton Avenue in Barrie, Campbell’s British Tea Room is a charming gem that brings a touch of Britain to cottage country. Taken over by new owners in 2021, this cozy spot is more than just a tea room—it’s a welcoming experience. Our server, Diane, was a true delight—warm, friendly, and clearly passionate about being part of the team.
The tea room offers a well-curated selection of British goods in an adjacent shop area, making it easy to stock up on your favourites. Their onsite baker crafts a mouthwatering array of desserts and baked goods, including an excellent assortment of meat pies and rolls. The scones were perfectly baked, but the highlight of the visit was undoubtedly the Eton Mess—hands down the best dessert I’ve had in a tea room and worth the trip to Barrie alone.
Campbell’s is ideal for a cozy tea break, a casual meal, or a quick stop on the way to the cottage. With ongoing renovations and a commitment to creating a warm, authentic atmosphere, this spot is set to become a favourite for years to come. I’ll definitely be back—for the Eton...
Read moreMade a reservation at least two weeks in advance, but once my friend and I arrived, we waited a good 10 minutes in the entrance before being acknowledged (I suppose they thought we were with another group?). Finally informed the staff that we have a reservation and our table was ready. Fantastic. We waited 20 minutes at the table without any acknowledgement from staff and we decided to leave. When we informed the staff we were doing so, we were offered our tray right away. We declined.
My friend and I were super excited for this experience, but it didn't turn out the way we expected. It's a shame.
The positive: cute place. The table decor is lovely and really gives off tea house vibes. However, the space does not. It's cramped, not a tea house feel, but it works for them. staff is friendly. However, they were veeeeeery busy today. clean space. popular, so it has to be good. Unfortunately, I didn't...
