Common Good Cafe & Social House — Restaurant in Barrie

Made a reservation for my birthday at 8:30pm. Received a call from the restaurant a few hours prior informing me that the last call for the kitchen is at 8:45 and we should reschedule. We couldn’t move the time but when arriving we asked the waiter what we should order to not overload the kitchen. He said everything is available so we got a few main course items and a couple salads. As he was entering the items into the computer, a woman came out of the kitchen and gave him a big eye roll right in front of us. The food was very cold and dry, completely unseasoned. The portions were very small for the price. The salad was just a bowl of spinach with uncut stems. The cocktails were good but the waiter spilled one of them and we had to ask for a napkin to wipe the glass clean. As we were still eating the staff started flipping the chairs over and taking out black bags of trash. We left the restaurant just 10 minutes after their closing time but were made aware that they stayed late for us and did not get enough appreciation for it. The waiter chased us to the parking lot and screamed that the tip we left was embarrassing and we should never come back. Thank you for ruining my birthday dinner with my family. Edit: Returned here a late Saturday afternoon with the same friend but we left a little disappointed. We ordered the brie dip, which was tasty, but it also had cream cheese in it which was not in the description. We ordered the same cocktails we'd enjoyed the first time but instead of coming in their individual glasses they just came in regular identical glasses. Maybe the person at the bar was less experienced, but it's a little less impressive when your drink comes in the same kind of glass you'd have orange juice in. I'll still come back hopefully my next visit is a little more like the first.

A friend and I came here on a Thursday evening for cocktails and snacks and we couldn't have been happier!! The garlic melt baguettes were so delicious and flavorful, cheese on the charcuterie platter were fresh. My friend loved the Track 0.3 (the sip I had made me consider one too!) and both the Show Royale and warm Boozy Cider were delicious. Beautiful decor and mood, comfy chairs, clean and nice. This cosy cafe has a nice atmosphere for hanging out with a group of friends or for a date. We went for brunch. We shared the Mimosa Flight and Strawberry & Cream Marg. The Mimosas were a sample of three flavours. I'm personally not a fan of strong bubbly drinks so I did prefer the strawberry drink more. It paired well with my peach cobbler which had just the right amount of sweetness and a good mix of textures from the crunchy toast, the soft caramelized peaches to the airy whipped cream. I had a side of maple bacon which was cooked perfectly. My wife had The Best, which was a flakey croissant sandwich with eggs, tomatoes and bacon inside. I attached some pictures that show more ingredients in our dishes. They all tasted excellent. For the most part this was not a cheap meal.
