Absolutely loved my experience at Dunlop Street Diner in Barrie! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that felt both nostalgic and modern. The interior strikes the perfect balance between retro diner charm and contemporary comfort — spotless, stylish, and full of character.
The service was outstanding — friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food. You can tell they care about creating a great experience for every customer. Now let’s talk about the food — incredible. I had the eggs benny with peameal bacon and it was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly poached eggs, rich hollandaise, and a fluffy biscuit that just melts in your mouth. The home fries were crispy and seasoned to perfection.
Their coffee was bold and fresh, refilled often, and the menu has something for everyone — from hearty comfort classics to healthy, creative options. Whether you're coming in for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, you're in for a treat. It’s clear the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced, and everything is made with care.
Dunlop Street Diner has easily become my new go-to spot in Barrie. If you’re in town — don’t miss this gem. You won’t leave...

Food- I ordered the Muskoka Benedict and it was DELICIOUS. I'd say the right amount of salt/seasoning was used. Cooked perfectly, along with the crispy fries. Honestly, I'd even go so far as to say they might be better than Mc Donalds fries, they were so nice and crispy.
Beverage- The Strawberry/Banana/Orange/Pineapple smoothie was a little steep in price. It tastes how you might expect if you made it at home, but they didn't just fill a tiny glass. They filled a glass and gave me the rest of the blend in a larger metal one. Also, by the looks of it, they sell Coca Cola instead of Pepsi (FINALLY!!!)
Ambience- I'm sure it would be a lot different if there were more people, but the place had quite the echo. Not a bother though. Sometimes there's only so much you can do with the space you're given. Fairly average, some things hanging on the walls and TV's to give the news.
Price- Fair. Moderate. Based on the menu at the time, you're looking at $10 a plate (depending what you get/excluding the kids menu).
Service- Waitress was on top of things, friendly and professional.
No complaints from me! If I were rich I'd make it a part of my morning...
Read moreOf course if you’re eating out, it’s about the food. As it should be! Today, for us, it was more about the exceptional service Laura provided. We were seated quickly with a smile. Beverages were brought right away while we perused the menu. We were so pleased that an all day breakfast was on offer, as we thought we might have missed the breakfast/lunch switchover window. I ordered a full breakfast: eggs, sausage, beans, smashed potatoes and sourdough toast. A Clamato juice too. My husband had a hearty bowl of oatmeal, a side of toast and a fresh fruit cup (which was the size of a cereal bowl!). Homemade strawberry jam on the side, and lots of piping hot coffee completed our meal. A great meal. But, I want to say this: a great server can turn a meal into an occasion. We were tired and more than a little dispirited by a recent move. We thought we’d be in and out in a hurry and get back at the “to-do” list. Instead we chatted with Laura as she came and went. Took our time. Were charmed by her good cheer. Were pampered, rather than rushed. Exhaled. Which was just what we needed on moving day. You should come here for a hearty breakfast or lunch. But you’ll become a regular...
