Welcome to Smokin Pete's Burger Shop in Barrie, where unpretentious honesty meets decent burgers at a fair price. It's all about serving up delicious, no-frills burgers that won't break the bank.
The lady at the counter is the welcoming face of this burger haven. Her kindness and attentiveness add a touch of warmth to your visit, making you feel right at home.
Now, the real stars of the show are the burgers. They may not be vying for the title of the best burger in Barrie, but they've got their own charm. These patties are like old friends – reliable, comforting, and always there when you need them. In a city filled with burger contenders, Smokin Pete's holds its own.
On the flip side, the gyro is more like anticipating a grand orchestral performance and receiving a solo act. It's missing some key ingredients that make a gyro exceptional, and the meat, though alright, doesn't quite hit the high notes.
As for the fries, they're akin to the loyal sidekick in your burger adventure, reminiscent of Costco fries (quite literally, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are from the same place Costco gets their fries and prepped in the same exact way) – not fancy, but they get the job done.
The best part? The food arrives in a jiffy, so there's no need for a long wait, which is always a plus when you're ready to satisfy your burger cravings.
In a nutshell, Smokin Pete's Burger Shop in Barrie sets itself apart not with fancy frills but with its honest approach to serving up decent burgers at a fair price. It's a place where the lady at the counter greets you like an old friend, and the burgers, while not the kings of the city, are dependable companions. Give the gyro a little pep talk, enjoy the trusty fries, and relish the fact that your meal arrives without a dramatic wait. It's close, it's good, and it's just the spot for a burger fix that won't dent...
Read moreI don't normally review but i had to let the cat out of the bag on this one. I have been to alot of burger joints in Barrie in search of my "unicorn " burger. The closest i came was the "Six Degrees Of K'Vin Bacon" at The Works. But the quality of both food, service and atmosphere at The Works has gone downhill. We used to go yearly for our anniversary and this year...they had a, well, septic smell, to put it nicely. And they sat us right next to the bathroom where the smell was emanating from 😬. But i digress. The "Mushroom Swiss Burger" from here is hands down the best Mushroom Melt burger out there and the fresh cut fries are great also. The atmosphere is great. The owners and staff are great. Always cheerful and ive always had great conversations with them. I missed out on buying a hat when they were selling merch. On my next visit i asked if they were going to sell hats again and they actually went in the back and found me a hat, the last one. I was so happy as it was for my husband whose name is also Pete 😆. The restaurant is on the small side as there is only 2 tables. But they are more a take-out restaurant with the option to sit for a few if they so choose. With the lack of overhead this allows them to keep the prices in the decent range. So you get amazing service and amazing food at a very decent price! Can't recommend Uncle Pete's enough. We will be there for our Anniversary...
Read moreGEMSTONE OF A RESTAURANT!!!! This place reminds me of what GOOD BURGERS are supposed to be. Came here while searching for a place to eat on a long trip and a simple En Route sandwich would NOT do. Suuuuuuuper friendly staff and the burgers were the BEST I ever had! Never thought Pineapple and teriyaki on a burger would slap so hard but this did. My partner and I were gushing over how great this place was!!! The meat is honestly the best part and shows they know what they’re doing, it’s so well seasoned and dense, plus you can get more than one patty (which I did). Plus the burger was pretty packed with stuff but kept its composure so easy to chow down on. Not to mention cajun fries. THE CAJUN. FRIES. A dish I have never been impressed with until yesterday! They are perfectly seasoned, not too salty, crispy and nice and soft in the middle (thanks for showing me how good cajun fries could be). Now I’m not an “eat a basket of fries for dinner” person but if I had another random side of these fries I would’ve devoured them no problem. Plus they have simple burgers if you want a classic bacon and cheese and wacky creation burgers if you want to explore, and a whole bunch of other items on the menu so there’s something for everyone. Every burger lover needs this place on their bucket list! Couldn’t even take better photos because I was so...
