barBURRITO — Restaurant in Beaumont

This is my first 1 star google review. I have given this location several chances and this is the last time we’ll go here. I went in to purchase a quesadilla and a burrito, now, ahead of me there was a couple who ordered 3 burritos and a quesadilla, but there were 3 staff members behind the counter and another 1 in the kitchen. They were so disorganized and inefficient. I waited patiently to be served for 15 minutes! I watched as the staff painstakingly spread out as little meat as possible, literally taking the time to try to fill the quesadilla space with an inadequate amount of meat, using the scoop to break up pieces of chicken to thinly spread it out further. When I asked for more meat I was told it would be extra, okay, I want to feed my hungry husband. I was charged an extra $2 for a 1/2 scoop more - still not enough. $15 for a quesadilla with hardly any toppings. My burrito wasn’t much better, they love to pile on the rice and beans, but not much else! When the veggie ground came back from the kitchen (none on hand) it had a large clump of old, dried, veggie round that I had to point out, she was going to serve it to me. Gross.

This is not normal, I have never seen a restaurant go so out of their way to skimp on portions and toppings. This location is cutting corners in the worst way and I am not the only person to notice given the other reviews. A really lovely place and a great addition to Beaumont! Super excited to not have ANOTHER burger place here. I met the owner (Kelly?) and she was lovely. The food was really good and the service was terrific! I ordered a burrito bowl with a drink and chips (combo) and it wasn’t a bad price! Really good portion size and tasty. My ONLY minor complaint is I wish they also had cabbage instead of just lettuce. Cabbage is more traditional and the other location in Edmonton i’ve been to had both options. Definitely would have preferred cabbage since it adds a better crunch to the food. Also my chips were a little itty-bit too salty, someone must have accidentally gone a little too heavy handed with the salt, but no big deal! Chips are great otherwise besides the few which had too much salt. Easily just wiped it off.

I do a lot of traveling for work and lament I had never been to a Barburrito until this morning. This particular branch has set a very high bar for others to follow. I got to work with the owner of the location and she absolutely floored me with her care and attention to detail. It speaks volumes to me when ownership is seen at the serving counter and telling me the virtues of their in house sauces and items. That's just the person behind the counter
