I'll start with the positive. Some friends of ours told us to come here, since we love sushi and they said the sushi was great. We were greeted and seated right away as the restaurant was not overly busy. We were impressed with the extensive menu of options. We ordered some spicy sushi roles and they came very quickly. They were well prepared but not at all spicy. They still tasted good and we were pleased with them. We also ordered green tea and two different udon soups. Unfortunately these were not good at all. The tea was cold and flavourless and both types of udon were the most flavourless we had ever tried. Almost like water vs broth. The waitress never returned to our table to ask if everything was okay, so we just finished quickly and left disappointed. I'm confident if we had stuck with ordering sushi we would have had been happy with the food as our rolls were fine. I would go back, but I would skip the udon and the tea and sit closer to the server station. I might also bring some spices with me from home as they seem to apply them sparingly. In all we had a disappointing experience, which was unfortunate since we made a special trip out, three towns over to try the food our friends...

I have been here a handful of times over the past few months and I really enjoy the food and the one server in particular is amazing and love when she is working when I visit!

Tonight, however, we showed up around 6:30, got our appetizers by 7, and then proceeded to wait over an hour after finishing our appetizers to get anything else. One family who came in shortly after us ended up leaving before getting their order because their kids simply could not stay awake any longer to wait for whenever they brought out the food. There were barely any others in the restaurant.

We weren't helped at all between getting appetizers and getting our main courses. Weren't asked what we would like to drink. Not checked up on. And absolutely no apology for the wait until we were checking out. Very disappointed with the wait time every time I come in here, better off ordering takeout because they clearly prioritize those orders above all in house orders. If you order takout you will get your food in a...

The sushi here is some of the best I’ve had, even compared to the fresh, high-quality sushi in Vancouver. I’ve been to so many sushi spots across Alberta, but this little place in a small town has really impressed me. The fish is incredibly fresh, and the flavors are spot-on—exactly what you want from traditional sushi. The portions are generous too, especially the sashimi, which comes in thick, satisfying slices that let the freshness shine. This isn’t fusion-style sushi, so it’s helpful to know your sushi terms before diving in.

The restaurant itself has a cozy, classic vibe with a calm, Japanese-inspired atmosphere. It’s a slower pace, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the experience. The portions are big, and the staff are super kind and accommodating. If you’re in a rush, just call ahead—they’ll do their best to make things work. Whether you’re a sushi enthusiast or just looking for amazing food, this spot is absolutely worth checking out....

Found the only sushi 🍣 spot in Blackfalds which was a rare find. Does not look like a restaurant from outside as it’s at the bottom of an apartment building. But when we saw it we popped in for a quick bite before hockey game. Menu is reasonably priced and it seemed pretty busy. We ordered 4 items, salmon sashimi, crazy boy roll, appetiser tempura and miso. Miso came fast and was nice and hot and tasty. Then the wait began. We waited a long time to get tempura without any plates, napkins or utensils or chopsticks 🥢, so we improvised! Eventually we got after finished appetiser and then waited another 30min for simple cut fish 😬 and a roll. We almost had to cancel so we did not miss game. Anyway food was good. Seems they struggle when busy. Lots of dirty tables and food takes so long. So make sure you have enough time to wait.

Good prices, service and food. For those who don't want raw they even have a small delicious section for fried and cooked. It's beautifully decorated inside, and great service, #1 Shusi in Central Alberta. As of this posting they are open for inside dining, they also have take out. They serve alcohol and I believe the handicap entrance gets you into the hotel lobby side door to the restaurant but you may want to phone to verify. Ah yes and I'm impressed at the modern clean washrooms, if washrooms cleanliness is not maintained I often associate it to how well they clean there kitchen, which by the way is open so you can see how clean even the kitchen is. The chef takes pride in his place and joyfully wishes you a good day from the kitchen as you are leaving.
