New owner is running this particular Subway into the ground. I’m beside myself in disbelief at their lack of understanding of the consequences of their actions..
First off, the staff is great, I feel sorry for them.
I’ve been a Subway junkie for around 20 years. I’ve been eating at Subways all over the country, I live in Blackfalds so I’ve using this one for around 9 years. It has always been one of the best ones.
About a month ago I went there with my kids. They had no wraps left. Ok, it happens. Go to pay and there are no cups left. A little weird, get bottled drinks pay and leave.
Come back a week later, they have no wraps, and no chicken at all. Now both my kids can’t get what they normally order. I ask the employee what’s going on. They apologize shaking their head saying the new owner is “not ordering”, could tell they were frustrated too. Since we couldn’t get anything close to our orders we left.
Went there yesterday thinking “maybe it’s just because the new owner is getting setup” - nope… This time they had ingredients, but only one wrap left. Went ahead ordering. Employees goes to put cheeses cheese on my kids wrap, uses a table spoon which was like a pinch of cheese. It was hardly anything, like 1/4 of what any other Subway including this one in days past would normally put on. Asked for more and was informed that would be a “double cheese” charge. That still would have been around 1/2 the normal amount of cheese. Get to the vegetables, the cucumbers are that gross wilted translucent color, the tomatoes mushy, there are no green peppers left. Powered through it and just wanted to get the food and go home. Get to the til and notice the cookies are half the size of normal Subway cookies, but the same price! The owner is clearly cutting making then 50% smaller for more profit. Pay for the food, there are no small size cups for my daughter. We go to get our drinks, there is only Pepsi, Diet Pepsi and Brisk in the fountain machine when there is normally like 8 flavours. Kid couldn’t get her favourite (lemonade).. no straws, no lids for the cups. Get home, bread is stale. I would guess this new owner is forcing the staff to keep stale ingredients out that would normally be cycled out. If he won’t buy lids I’m sure he doesn’t like throwing wilted vegetables and stale bread out.
I see the owner is replying to people’s negative reviews. Read this: YOU HAVE RUINED THE BLACKFALDS SUBWAY. You bought a successful business that had one of the best products I’ve seen from the franchise, now they can’t make basic subs and don’t have core products!! I tried to give it time to recover but it’s blatantly obvious you are cutting corners at the expense of your customers. Shane on you. At this rate you won’t be an owner for long, thank god because you took away a family favourite in Blackfalds with your cheap business practices.
I’m also sending corporate an email with this copy and pasted. There is no way it can be allowed in your agreement to half the size of the cookies and charge the same price. I’m pretty sure they don’t want you ruining the brand with this deplorable operation.

I paid for a steak and bacon salad - extra meat and extra shredded cheese. Asked to have dressing mixed in
I got a salad. No double meat. No shredded cheese PERIOD. Sauce poured on the top. Just got off work - on the way to dance for my kids now have no dinner.
Called and told him i needed this to be fixed. He said come in to have it fixed now. I said I couldn't. I'm literally on the way to red deer won't be home until 9:30.
He said he could refund. I told him I would come get a refund (which i would use towards getting it fixed another day - clearly today doesn't work). He says i just want free food?!
I told him I have pictures of the salad. He said NO WHERE gives free food away.
He didn't make what I paid for - clearly not getting free food.
A manager needs to write me back as soon as possible. According to this jerk there is none there or anyone able to talk to me.
EDITED TO ADD: I drove back to get my refund and this guy on the phone talking about me to the owner - and when he sees me holding the salad he said "she's here right now what do i do?!". Acting like I was there doing something to him. I walked in... holding a salad - waiting to get a refund.
I stood there while he is talking about me to his boss and then he hands me the phone?! Make this make sense - I wanted a refund for a disgusting salad. That was it. That was all.
I take the phone and the owner apologizes and asks what happened. I told him I didn't have time - i was very late for dance. But i gave him a short run down of what happened. Meanwhile there is a guy in the store placing his order. Probably thinking i am the issue because of how this guy is acting.
He tells me that hey will give me a refund. So I give the guy back his phone - he takes it and walks away. I tell him that i need a refund because I am now very late for dance. He turns around and says "this lady is CRAZY she is yelling at me". At no point was I yelling at him. Frustrated, yes. Yelling? Not once.
I was mortified. Standing there waiting for my money. Almost $17 for a salad.
I will NEVER BE BACK. I will tell everyone I know about how I was treated.
Another thing that is irritating to me is knowing my 17 year old son has applied their multiple times - no call back nothing. And then they hire someone like this?! Bad choice, clearly. He wouldn't know customer service if it hit him in the face.

Read moreI just wanted to give credit where it was due to our sandwich artist and her amazing customer service skills and attention to detail in preparing mine and my sister's supper.
Our sandwich artists name was Debbie. She was 1 of 2 people on shift and was tasked with serving us our dinner.
To start off our experience, we were welcomed with a warm smile, eye contact and a welcoming vibe from Debbie. She helped me decide what to order from what I told her I was craving, she was quick helpful and very informative. Even tho you don't offer a whole wheat wrap, I was fine with it as She was understanding that that was my preference and apologetic that was not something she could offer at this time. She was open to helping me to start over but she had sold me on the wrap before hand and I was excited to see it through regardless of whole wheat wrap or white.
Secondly, the wonderful Debbie showed us a new sauce the restaurant is promoting, the goddess Sause. She kindly gave up a taster after my sister and I asked and we were blown away by how amazing it was.
Thirdly, Debbie showed awesome skills in wrapping our wraps. I ended up getting the chicken ceaser wrap with ALL the veggies and my sister got a veggie wrap, again all the veggies.
We both got a bunch of sauces, including the new goddess sauce. Which we both really hope you guys keep!! Debbie was effortlessly able to wrap them up nice and tight and she even obliged us when we asked them to be cut in half.
She was very nice and we had a few laughs as we went through to keeping experience with her.
I find the world to be very split these days and good interactions are sometimes hard to find. Good customer service is even harder to find. And we were delightfully tickled to be served by Debbie.
So much so I felt compelled to write this review.
In my personal life I am having some troubles and I just wanted to say Thank you to Debbie for an amazing experience and I sure hope Subway shows you the appreciation they should because they have one heck of a worker at the Blackfalds Subway location in Alberta Canada!!
