A Birthday Ruined by Poor Management and Terrible Customer Service. 😡
I booked at Baton Rouge two weeks in advance to celebrate a friend’s birthday with a group of 12 people and 5 children. Since the system only allowed reservations for up to 8 people, I followed their guidelines and made two separate reservations, both confirmed without issue.
Upon arrival, we were denied entry because both reservations were made with the same email address. Shouldn’t a restaurant that values its customers anticipate situations like this and offer real solutions? The only ‘solution’ offered was a table for 8 people and another table for 3 children in a separate area. How do they expect a birthday celebration to be split like that?
I explained to the person who introduced himself as the owner that, in my email, I had clearly noted that the two tables were part of the same reservation. His response? That I should have called. Why allow email reservations if vital details like these are ignored?
We tried to reason with him, but his response remained cold and lacking empathy. To make matters worse, instead of offering any genuine assistance, he simply said, ‘I can’t do anything more. You messed up, we messed up… and sorry, I have more customers.’ Is this the kind of treatment to expect from a restaurant that prides itself on service? Is this how customer relationships are handled on special occasions?
We were forced to leave with the kids in the chilly autumn night, desperately looking for another place to dine. This experience not only ruined our celebration but also left us wondering: is this how Baton Rouge values its customers? The lack of organization, the dismissive response, and the complete lack of empathy were shocking.
I would not recommend Baton Rouge to anyone who values good treatment and respect on important occasions. What’s the worth of a restaurant that only sees its customers as just...
Read moreLet me start by saying Baton Rouge is my favourite restaurant. I live 5 minutes away from the one in Boisbriand and yesterday, I did not have a good experience there. I will not be going back.
First of all, about two weeks ago, I called to take reservations and the girl told me they didn’t take any. (No problem) we went there with four adults and two kids(1 year old and 3 years old). The girl tells me there is about a 30 minutes wait. I tell the others and we were like not bad, it usually goes faster when they say 30 minutes. I’m also pregnant and I wanted ribs so the group accepted to wait because of me. 35 minutes passes and not our turn. I go ask the girl if it is almost our turn and she tells me she could not say. She said ABOUT 30 minutes so that can be 45 minutes to an hour since she has reservations. I tell her but why didn’t you tell me that from the start, it would have been good to know. To me, that’s not what about 30 minutes means. About 45 minutes to an hour, I would have never waited. We waited another 10 minutes and got so frustrated that we ended up leaving and went elsewhere. So disappointed with the service. No apology from her for saying the wrong wait time. Oh yeah and on top of that, we had to wait outside near the door and it was not warm that day.
If you are hungry and told to wait, just go elsewhere. It will be a lot less...
Read moreHuge portion of fries! But… 4 tiny drab little pieces of flavourless chicken filet. Atmosphere appears clean, but upon looking closer at things possibly due for a revamp (carpets worn out and grimey, bases of ceramic tile with a lot of dirty mop residue, and the washroom sinks sheeesh). I do have to say the mediocre-cherry on top was this: lunch menu includes a soup and a tea/coffee between 11am-4pm. Turns out we asked for our tea after 4pm, so “the manager said it’s no longer included and we have to be charged”. Here’s a piece of constructive criticism, and don’t be bothered by opinion because I haven’t been here in years and definitely won’t be returning any time soon. But maybe try and be more forward thinking for the regular customer base you still have? People are spending their hard earned money here (on food that literally tastes the same when store bought from the frozen aisle at IGA) and you’re gunna charge them for a 25 cent tea bag and some warm water because it’s 22 minutes after 4pm? Think about how to keep your customers happy and coming back, not how to win a dispute over pennies and technicalities. ✌️
Also, now that I think of it I’m probably just disappointed because I didn’t take the ribs, the ribs at Baton Rouge are the...
