Gatto Matto — Restaurant in Boisbriand

Gatto Matto Boisbriand is amazing. I went for supper with my husband with a reservation booked ahead of time. It is definitely a crowded restaurant but to our surprise it is not very loud and disturbing compared to other restaurants. Food wise it was excellent! Nothing to complain about. The octopus and the sauce that was coming with it is definitely our favourite. The calamari sauce surprised us with its creamy light taste it was delicious. We ordered gluten free pasta and they were amazingly cooked. The ceasar salad was very good as well. The only improvement would definitely be the service offered by the waiters. The waitress we had did not provide us a great experience specially that it was our first time to gatto matto in Boisbriand. We gave our drink order then five minutes later our appetizer and main course order at the same time. We did specify to bring the appetizers first. We received our appetizers relatively quickly but the meal… We placed our order for the main course at 5:40pm and got our order at 6:35pm. The waitress comes and mentions to us at 6:30pm that the meal will be served in 5 minutes… we’ve been waiting for 50 minutes… at that point, our night got on the bad side. The waitress offered herself for us to speak to a manager. A manager came first and then a second one came. The second manager, Rita, there is no better word to describe her than amazing! She handled the situation with great care and the she completely changed the outcome of our night positive. The waitress then came back and asked us if we wanted the menu for deserts. We said yes and she just looks at us and says oh well we don’t have menu’s for deserts… then why are you asking…? She then started telling us what are the deserts but I lost her halfway through all the options. We ended up skipping the desert and we went elsewhere to grab a desert. Gatto Matto should make a desert menu since they have a nice variety. I can’t say if all the waiters were the same, which I highly doubt but some of them she be offered some shadowing or help them through the night. I have waitressing experience but I myself could never offer such a low service for any of my clients, to make them wait one hour and not do any follow up and to offer them something the restaurant doesn’t have. Either way, we will definitely come back because of the way the situation was handled by Rita the manager, we left with a smile because of her. Thank you Rita! You just won two new clients and many more with the recommendations...

Went out with the family for a belated birthday dinner. Service was friendly and quick with a great atmosphere in the restaurant that filled up quickly after 6pm. Food was very good and came in generous portions. My Hoegaarden beer was served cold and was great as I haven’t seen it on tap in a long time. My pizza was very charred in one section but more than half was fine. I wasn’t going to raise an issue but Rita, whom I found out later was the Manager, must have spotted it, or was told I was looking at it, came over and immediately replaced it with a smile and apology and then made sure the replacement arrived quickly. It has been many years since anyone in any restaurant preemptively checked on the food and acted to fix something without being asked. Rita chatted with the family and checked in repeatedly and really went out of her way to make sure we had a great experience including a fantastic cannoli dessert. The service level was really refreshing and hugely appreciated. Will be going back, thank you...

I went in here thinking it was some basic casual dining chain. My assumption was incorrect. I was dressed like a dirt bag, doing some shopping with my partner. I didn't fully grasp the situation until I was fully inside. I was there 5 mins after open so they were happy to let me in.

I was blown away by the experience. The attention to detail in the food itself was fantastic. Fresh, well presented, good plating, good timing between items. Careful flavour balance. We got an appetizer, pasta, pizza, wine dessert. All elements were well executed. Server was friendly and helpful. She knew the menu and made excellent recommendations. I've spent time in Italy and find most Italian restaurants to be hugely basic and disappointing. Not so in this case.

Portions are great for people who want to try good stuff. Didn't feel like I was overly full after, which was nice.
