Where do I start? I did not think it possible to mess up fried rice, which is a staple and likely one of the less involved meals to prepare, but this place proved me wrong. The sushi is uninspired at best. The plate of 55 pieces is dominated by pieces that are mostly rice and a few sticks of cucumber or other veggie and a few roll that look decent are still a far cry from a great sushi roll. The Dragon Eye is absolutely horrendous. The fish inside which seemed to be dried up smoked salmon looked like it's seen better days. The chicken pieces seem to be frozen and/or reheated, which is fine for a no frills restaurant , but at least it should be a whole chunk of chicken md not the minced mess that it is. You know when you go to a place like this that you are not paying for nutritious food, but this food is the type that you pay for and have zero regrets letting the money be thrown in the trash after you Taste it. Now to service, we hoped we could give it some stars for the staff but unfortunately we were welcomed by unfriendly staff and it took one hour to get this meal ready and the restaurant was at half capacity at most. Avoid if you have any standards as to what a meal out should be and value...
Read moreI spotted Samon on Google (thought wow 4.6) and since it’s a tunnel away from where we are, thought to try it out. Their website was very well done and presented this place as a chic Sushi bar, but it was the furthest from this. The food was a total disappointment and for 45$ a head, my expectations were high. The sushi was the worst I have ever tasted in years. Stale rice with a funny vegetable oil aftertaste, fishy salmon, and tasteless nigiri, our rolls broke apart as the chopstick made contact. As for hot appetizers, they tasted alright, but they were not any different than appetizers you’d find in the frozen aisle of a grocery store. Orders are done by scanning a barcode on a receipt, which is helpful and service was quick. I spotted something on that receipt that made me understand how this place had a 4.6. If you review and show the review to the waiter before paying, you get a free soft drink - what people would do for a free can of Coke. Yeah, review without trying the food, that’s honest ..
I want to share that the hardworking service staff have nothing to do with this poor review. Everyone was...
Read moreThis is in my opinion the best all you can eat sushi restaurant on and around the island of Montreal.
The service is always excellent, fairly quick even if the restaurant is packed, the waiters are always checking the tables to make sure glasses are filled and you never feel neglected as a customer.
As for the food, it’s very tasty, good quality and nice presentation. The menu offers more unique options than your typical ayce sushi place. I especially like the tuna and salmon tataki, tartare and maki rolls with purple rice. My partner also enjoys the kitchen items (salt and pepper shrimp, general tao chicken, fried quail eggs) and says the Chinese food is restaurant quality.
As for pricing, it is higher than regular ayce spots but justifiably so considering all the points mentioned above. All in all, I...
