I have been ordering jerk chicken from Baker's since 2019. I host a lot of social functions at church and at home. My guests always appreciate and enjoy the jerk chicken from there, they ask for it when it's not on the menu. My latest experience with Baker's at the Mississauga/Steeles location have changed everything. I ordered a total of $265 jerk chicken platter, normally, I would prepare my own gravy on the side, but that day I was running late for my function, I didn't have the time to prepare my own gravy as usual. So, when I went in to pick up my order, I asked the girl who was serving if I could get a little gravy on the side, for a moment, she stood there, looking at me, not knowing she was waiting on me to pay, that's when she asked "how are you paying?" I said to I've already paid for my order the day before, she said no, payment the gravy. At that moment I realized I didn't go in with my bag, only had my phone. No funds on me to pay, I told her I am not going back to the car to get money to pay for little gravy, after I bought this much chicken from you. She told me she was sorry, she couldn't give me the gravy. I told her how unfair it was and that I was highly disappointed in their service, especially after such a large order and I reminded her that I've been getting my chicken from them since 2019. This is the first time I ever asked for a little gravy on the side and this is the treatment I got. Another employee who witness the whole thing, jumped to tell me 'I am sorry , it's policy". Does the manager of this place have a measurement for the gravy pot? I made it clear to her it would be the last time she sees me in that store. I am not going back there. I will not support a business where all you see is your own profit, no customer service, no compromise of any sort. I was so pissed that day I told the people at the function it was the last time they were having that chicken and told them about my experience. I have also told a lot of my Jamaican friends, they've already suggested some other...
Read moreBeyond disappointed with my experience here. I Came to this location today for a break after driving for 4 hours straight coming back. and got some jerk chicken with rice, sides and a drink.
Ordered everything, was about $20. I take my food and go to sit down, they tell me I’m not allowed to dine in because the prices are different.
I said sure, can I just pay the difference, because I was really tired. They didn’t charge me anything extra, told me to sit down, they told me they need to take my food to the back to plate it because they won’t allow me to eat it out of the take out container if I dine in. I don’t need it plated everything’s already packed in Take-Out containers which is fine with me, but they took the food to the back anyways.
Now I sit for 15 minutes waiting for them to bring me my food.
Very disappointed by this experience.
You should ask at the beginning if the customer wants to dine in or take out.
My food was already packed to-go why do I wait to wait for it to be re-plated.
The restaurant was empty too, stupid policies.
As I was walking out of the store the lady yells saying SIR, you need to pay!
I said I already paid at the beginning then proceeds to ask me to pay $7 more for dining in.
She could have charged me this before telling me to sit down or told me while I was eating to come by the cash later to pay $7 for dining in.
Now there are other people in the store just watching me thinking I was trying to dine and dash because they don’t know I already paid at the beginning.
I have no issues paying the $7 but the lack of communication and public embarrassment is what bothers me.
When I offered to pay extra to dine in she just told me to sit down.
While I was eating not once did anyone come by to ask if the food was okay or offer to refill my drinks
They have Decent food but terrible customer service and policies. I Won’t be back.
$20 for takeout or $27 for dining in for the exact same food situation no...
Read moreDiscovered this restaurant a few weeks ago based on a craving for jerk. I've tried many restaurants looking for one that replicates what you get in Jamaica. This one gets it right.
The food is tasty, not overly spicy which allows all palates to enjoy. Festival is not something I appreciated, even in Jamaica, this place changed that for me. I am a believer. Chicken is moist with enough zing to remind you that you are eating jerk chicken. Try the plantain! Peas and rice is on point!
I had family over for dinner yesterday. Earlier in the week Sophia and the ladies helped me choose the right amounts for my party. Food was ready when requested, piping hot and packed so that taking home was easy.
The results were impressive considering my family are from the Caribbean and know real Caribbean food. Fingers were licked and there were many return trips to the dishes.
The food is the show stopper, but the chef and the ladies deserve mad appreciation for the experience! They reminded me why I miss people from the Caribbean. Easy going and friendly, except to the door dash driver who did not bring in his bag and was scolded by the lady who insisted that he put it in his bag so that the customer will get his food delivered hot! Pleasant but firm and no question as to who was in charge 😂.
Great job guys,...
