I rarely write negative reviews, but my recent visit was so disappointing that I feel compelled to share.
I ordered a Pav Bhaji Dosa and a Chicken Curry Set Dosa over the phone for pickup. The lady taking my order had trouble hearing me, so I repeated it clearly, assuming everything was fine. When my husband went to pick up the order, he checked the receipt — it matched exactly what we ordered. We thought this was great and looked forward to our dinner after a long, stressful day at work.
When we got home, we opened the boxes and were shocked to find that the order was completely wrong. Instead of what we paid for, we received a regular Masala Dosa and a Chicken Keema Uttapam. The worst part? We had been charged for the more expensive items we originally ordered.
When I called the restaurant to inform them, the lady on the phone accused my husband of not checking the order properly. But how exactly are customers supposed to verify their order — if not by checking the receipt, which is exactly what my husband did?
This kind of mistake is bad enough, but the lack of accountability and customer service was even worse. There was no apology, no solution offered, and no ownership of the error. We will not be returning and cannot recommend this place to anyone who values honesty, accuracy, or good service.
Sharing images of the receipt and the food we received for reference.
Also please note that we were not the only ones who experienced this issue. There are other 1 star reviews given by customers who have experienced the similar problem. Please read this review before you make any order from them.
Responding back to the owner: I did not order Kari Dosa....I specifically ordered (as mentioned in the receipt), it was Set Dosa Chicken curry (please kindly read the receipt if you can comprehend English well). Also, we have been to multiple restaurants and have ordered Pav Baji Dosa. The spread is made of pav Baji stuffing (not potato masala spread). Also, I didn't ask for your extra potato masala so thank you for using the brain and not charging me as I would have been further upset. Take accountability for your actions when you are responding to customer's reviews. I have posted photos of the food which clearly indicates that your staff have no idea what to charge customers. They hear one side on the phone, tells the chef to cook whatever leftover they have, and punch in some numbers and make you pay. On top of that you are expecting tip for the shitty service? Your restaurant deserves to be...
Read moreFood is average to below-average, but I do not blame them entirely for this as the pandemic has caused them to serve the food in styrofoam boxes, which results in the food getting cold by the time you reach home. However, what really annoyed me was that the customer service was horrible. I was placing an order for pick-up, and the person on the other side of the phone came off as very rude. I found many individuals in their staff to have a condescending voice. They are in such a great location and with a little 'customer service' training, they could be very successful. It was so disappointing as I was really excited to try this new place out, I probably will not be recommending this place to others or going back until things have changed.
EDIT: I wanted to respond to the owners comment as I only wish to leave constructive feedback. Excluding this week, I have been going to this restaurant on Mondays for their Masala Dosa deal for the past couple of weeks. It is on the way back from my work, making it convenient for me. As such, I have picked up my food from a few members of their staff over the weeks (usually a younger female or an older female at the front desk). I have consistently found their attitudes to not be very positive. It seems that I am not the only one that has observed this as many people who left reviews have also commenting on this. Moreover, it seems that the restaurant owners are ignoring this and are being quite defensive on their current practises (as noted by the many comments that they leave on others' reviews). Due to this 'customer service' observation and the food being average, as well as other (in my opinion, superior) options being available nearby, I will not be able to recommend this place yet. When I get some free time, I will email you so that we can have...
Read moreAfter many attempts of finding a decent and delicious spot for South Indian delicacies, I chanced upon Idli Street. This is one of the very few spots that serves near-authentic idli, vada and sambar without charging exorbitant prices. Over the last 6ish months, I've visited them for dine-in and takeout over 10 times. The quality of the staple idli, vada along with sambar and chutney has been consistently good. This is what keeps bringing me back here. Apart from the staple items, I've tried a variety of their beverages, dosas (regular, signature, rava) and utthapams. Overall, I'd say it's a bit of a hit and miss. The quintessential Mysore Masala dosa is by far one of the best. None of the others match up to this. The most disappointing one was Paneer Utthapam, had such a burnt taste and was very different from the description provided in the menu. I couldn't eat more than 2 bites. The other experiment that I did not enjoy was idli chaat, so bland and tasteless. I'd say if you're a fan of "South Indian" cuisine, stick to the staples for you will NOT be disappointed. Their fusion items are not worth the experience, lots of room to improve there. For beverages, the filter coffee is my go-to that does not disappoint. Chai is so-so. Coming to service, well, it has changed a lot over the many months I've visited them. It's below average, sometimes bordering curtness and unfriendly demeanor. Service is a weak area. I wish they'd spend some time coaching folks on not just on how to serve the customers but also explain the wonderful variety of dishes they serve. Most of the servers don't know what a dish is about or what it contains.
Value for money and great ambiance whether you go on a Friday night or Sunday brunch. Recommended for the staples, whether you dine in...
