While Brar’s grand buffet used to be a good place for vegetarian eat out, sadly it’s not the case anymore and food is downright bad in quality. For the last 3 visits that we had here, experience has been rather underwhelming. Let me list the issues first and then a few positives too.
👎🏿 Monchow soup was probably the worst one I ever had. I wish I had never filled my bowl with it. 👎🏿 All paneer starters were downright garbage. Paneer was hard and rubbery. We suspect they reheated paneer starters so many times that it lost its taste and feel. 👎🏿 Chinese section was underwhelming too and lacked flavour and aroma. 👎🏿 They discontinued cold coffee in drinks section which was their key drink. You can only get lassi now in different flavours which is kinda mediocre only. 👎🏿 If you ask for tandoori roti to pair up with your main course, then just forget about it. I mean literally FORGET about it since the chef has already forgotten about it. On insisting multiple times, they delivered 1 tandoori roti after about 10 minutes. The other 2 roties NEVER arrived while we kept waiting for it while veggies and curry were getting cold. We literally had to kill time waiting for the roties while reminding waiters and staff every 5 minutes. Finally after about 20-30 minutes of waiting, we gave up having the main course because, why would we eat cold food and without roties, right? 👎🏿 Well, we asked for their manager to provide feedback and explain her all that went around main course. She just apologized and explained that their tandoor is not efficient enough to make roties faster and can only cook one roti in 10 minutes. Well, mam, it was a Thursday evening when we had meal and restaurant wasn’t even full yet, it your tandoor can’t manage for such low number of customers, then god help those who order roties on a weekend evening. By her logic, they can only serve 1 roti for 10 minutes for the entire restaurant. God knows how they could manage if someone hosts a party here. 👎🏿 The experience was downright terrible and wasn’t worth our time and money. I rarely write negative reviews but had to write this one since they failed to improve despite reminders and feedback. 👎🏿 Dessert section consists of 90% sweets and very little variety if you want to avoid heavy sugary sweets.
Now, for the positive part, there are a few things that went right: 👍🏻 Pani puri/gol gappa starters were great. The mixture of spices and taste was perfect. 👍🏻 Selection of salads is great. 👍🏻 Palak paneer/saag paneer curry is quite tasty and good aroma in the main course. Sadly we couldn’t indulge into its flavour due to ‘tandoori roti’ fiasco.
Overall, I would recommend anyone looking forward to eat out to avoid brar’s buffet like a plague. Trust me, you are better off eating at a regular restaurant than here due to their several issues...
Read moreReally pathetic experience with their rude staff.
This dates back to August 20, 2023 around 2 PM. Our family of 4 came to dine in and after finishing, the server brings the bill to our table, I add some tip and pay with my international debit card. The screen of the payment machine says approved, we thank our server, she lets us clear the table, and we get ready to leave. On our way out, my mom starts browsing their sweets section and takes couple of minutes to see around. When we are about to go out, the server who took the payment calls me saying that my payment might not be approved because their machine had some connectivity issues, or was low on battery, and died mid transaction, and the receipt did not print for them. It's understandable that it can happen to anyone, so my girlfriend & I stood their chatting with their staff trying to see what went wrong. Because I used a debit card for the transaction, I had instantly got a message from my bank that the money had been debited from my account towards Brar's Grand Buffet, so I was pretty sure that I was fine.
The next moment what I'm hearing from their staff is that I need to pay again because they cannot find my transaction in their system!!! Despite me showing them my bank transaction that it's paid from my side, they wanted me to repay it and later they'll refund me if their system shows the transaction twice. I do not think this is how it works, so I give them my name and number and ask them to contact me in case they do not receive the payment, because I was NOT going to pay again! Also, my girlfriend kept asking them to check their bank transaction and they should see our payment being received there, but they won't understand.
After some heated arguments from both sides, I and my girlfriend walk out of the restaurant. We check again with our bank, and the transaction was posted. We go in again, and patiently try to explain it to their novice manager that we're not at fault here, but she starts having some rude, bad,, cold attitude and behaving as if she did a favor to us and let us walk out without paying?? And when we are leaving again, she has the audacity to shout from the counter in front of all customers that we're leaving without paying!!! This is complete incompetency and sheer lack to customer service and hospitality.
I keep checking my account to see if the transaction ever flipped, and I'm wrong, but it has not happened. And, I'm pretty sure they have my money because they never contacted me back despite me leaving my details with them.
Never coming back, and not recommending to...
