Ordered lunch (through UbberEats delivery) on October 3, 2022 and promised myself to NEVER eat there again. My order included 2 x Mixed Grill Platters at $23.99 each. For this price, one would expect a decent meal. Wrong if you eat at Lazeez Shawarma (Chinguacousy location). Salads came with no dressing, dry lettuce leaves with tomatoes, onions and cucumber. Rice was dry and only moistened by sprinkling of tahini/garlic sauce that was on the meat. And meat...kebobs and kofta burnt on one side (one could scrape charcoal) and bone dry inside. One order was mild while the second order was medium spicy and the level of spiciness was set with amount of Cajun pepper powder on top of food (one looked more red than other). If one doesn't know that and doesn't mix food before eating, it is sure a choking hazard (eyes tearing for sure). Having said that, I could not taste anything outside of the Cajun powder heat. Lastly, order was placed with utensils box checked off and additional note to please provide forks and napkins as lunch was during a workshop session. To my surprise, neither forks nor napkins were included. How is one expected to eat a plate of food without cutlery? I called UbberEats driver, who was nice enough to make a run to get me forks and napkins. It still took extra 10 minutes before we could start eating. This restaurant failed at every step of the process. I have tasted kababs and kofta in my travels through the Middle East and what I had today (the portion of what I could eat) was a disgrace to the real dish. To think that this restaurant was voted the best Shawarma restaurant in the past years (up to 2020) only indicates that either the restaurant owners/operator has changed or people who voted, never...
Read moreI came today this evening and placed an order for 2 Friday combos; one chicken and one falafel. When I placed the order I even asked them directly to change their gloves when making my food. And when I picked up the food I asked again to ensure the food was correct. The lady labelled the chicken as falafel. I went home and ate the “falafel” mind you I don’t eat meat, I haven’t over in 7 years. And when I went back there was no accountability or apology.. instead “that was impossible” arguing with me and then telling me they aren’t going to refund me my full amount back or even compensate for the mistake. No hospitality or proper customer service. I have never experienced this in my life. And when I asked to speak to a manager or number it was not given to me. I had to argue for my full refund back. The food has now made me sick, and I can’t even eat. My stomach is twisting and turning because they labelled the wraps incorrectly. Now I have to end my night sick and hungry. I am not happy with the service I received and I’m not happy that there was no accountability and I had to argue for my rights as a customer. No other establishment would have treated me the way the treated me. I will not be returning back to this establishment ever again because they lacklustre, respect, accountability and...
Read moreFood was your typical Lazeez/shawarma chain fare. Not bad but not amazing either. They've recently upgraded the hot sauce. I used to get "hot" and it was a great spice level, but they warned me that it has gotten spicier so I got "less than hot" on my last visit, which I found to be spicier than "hot" used to be.
Service is highly varied: the last time I went in, one of the employees was standing right at the cash having a casual conversation (I had thought she was taking an order but ruled that out as she was on the phone for a while and not taking anything down). She glanced at me standing right in front of her a few times but not a word was uttered, not even a "sorry, just a minute" or anything of the kind. I'm not sure what it is about employees in these establishments but this is generally not considered acceptable. Even if it was a work-related phone conversation, if you're going to stand at the cash like that you should at least make clear to the customer that someone else will be by to help them.
Service at other times has been good, as many of the other employees greet you when you come in and are...
