I recently visited Simply Indian, an Indian restaurant that has been making waves in the neighborhood. While the service was excellent, the food unfortunately did not meet my expectations.
Ambiance: The restaurant boasts a vibrant yet cozy ambiance, with traditional Indian decor that creates a welcoming atmosphere. The lighting is soft, and the seating is comfortable, making it a nice spot for both family dinners and casual outings.
Service: One of the highlights of my visit was the service. From the moment we walked in, the staff was friendly and attentive. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and eager to help with recommendations. Drinks were served promptly, and our orders arrived relatively quickly. The staff frequently checked in on us to ensure everything was satisfactory, which I truly appreciated.
Food: Sadly, the food did not live up to the high standards set by the service. We started with a couple of appetizers, including Gol gappe( Panni puri). For the main course, we ordered a variety of dishes, including shahi paneer , dal makhani, and chilli paneer Hakka noodles . The shahi paneer was overly sweet and lacked the rich, spicy flavor typical of the dish. The dal makhani was creamy but tasted more like plain lentils than the flavorful dish I’ve had at other Indian restaurants. The chilli paneer was disappointing as well, lacking the fragrant spices and moisture that usually make it a standout.
Simply Indian has a lot of potential with its excellent service and inviting atmosphere. However, the food needs significant improvement to match the level of hospitality provided by the staff. If you’re looking for a place with good service and a pleasant vibe, it might be worth a visit, but don’t set your expectations too high when it comes to the food. I hope they can enhance their menu, as I would love to see them thrive in...
Read moreWent in to grab a thali. Just as I was being handed over the thali, I noticed that they also have Amritsari kulchas & I wanted to add a couple of them as well to my order. While preparation time shouldn't have taken long, I was told that I would have to wait for 25-30 minutes since apparently there was a queue (there were hardly 2 other customers other than me in the store at that time). Maybe, they would have online orders, I don't know. I requested them to explore if it could be expedited specially since my Thali was gettting cold but the front-end staff girls was just too adamant. I was left with no choice but to forego the kulchas & they were absolutely non chalant to loose out on the extra sale.. While leaving I wanted to share this experience with their manager but was told that he wasn't available. They wouldn't give either their own name, or their manager's name. It all seemed so unprofessional. I was asked to leave my contact number with them so that they would have someone follow-up with me..but no one has done that till date. Going by their lackadaisical attitude, wonder if the non chalant front staff actually even brought this up with their manager/owner..!!!? Pl do not construe the reason of my angst & dissapointment as not being allowed to jump the queue. I fully respect others ahead of me (if any) & was also willing to wait, provided that they gave me my thali hot & fresh alongwith the later order. But they simply wouldn't listen my repeated requests. A circumstantial discretion could've certainly, been made. If a business doesn't value its customer, please count customers (like me), out as well to patronize that business. Luckily there's tons of alternate...
Read moreI recently dined at Simply Indian - Brampton, and I can confidently say it was an extraordinary culinary experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting ambiance.
The highlight of my meal was, without a doubt, the mango shake. It was the best I've ever had – creamy, perfectly sweet, and bursting with fresh mango flavor. Each sip was like a tropical escape, leaving me craving more.
The aloo tikki was another standout. The patties were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, seasoned to perfection with a blend of spices that brought out the best in the potatoes. The accompanying chutneys added a delightful tang and sweetness, making each bite a burst of flavor.
The rest of the Indian food was equally impressive. From the rich and aromatic curries to the freshly baked naan, every dish was prepared with care and authenticity. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were well-balanced, reflecting the true essence of Indian cuisine.
Special mention goes to our server, Elina. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly. Elina’s excellent service and genuine warmth added to the overall delightful experience. She made sure we had everything we needed and provided great recommendations.
Overall, Simply Indian exceeded my expectations. The combination of exceptional food, friendly service, and a pleasant atmosphere made for a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to enjoy the best mango shake, aloo tikki, and a variety of delicious...
