Went in to buy samosas and they were drenched in oil. Samosas usually come with a sweet and green chutney. However the green chutney was not packed and I asked if I could have some. They said it was an extra charge rudely. All other restaurants will provide it complimentary. The restaurant was completely empty, so I decided to eat a Samosa before and the owner said that I had to pay extra to "dine in" and the rate for the samosas would then be 2/$1 vs 3/$1. This didn't make sense especially when the restaurant was completely empty and the tables were not very clean. Not going back and will be sticking to Sweet Palace.
Edit: update to reflect owners comments a year later:
What do you mean "people like me?!" People who pay money to patronize your business and line your pockets with our hard earned money? Take a look at your competition: chutney or a sweet sauce is standard accompaniment with an order of samosas. Do you expect people to eat them plain? I would think "Standard Sweets and Restaurant" could comprehend the general standard of selling these snacks in Brampton. Furthermore, no, I was not advised of the dine in/ take out pricing before hand. Anyhow good luck with your business..i.hope.my review can help improve your business and customer service. Remember, you aren't entitled to customer's money, you need to...
Read moreI have come here many times with my boyfriend. I love there Thalis and my boyfriend loves their parantha. I especially asked him to come here today for lunch becuase I was excited for their shahi paneer. Little did I know this would be my last time coming here. The thali they gave me which I picked two shahi paneer and one mattar paneer was stone cold. As was the gulab jamun, I asked for them to reheat it and the gulab jamun came out hot but the curries were just warm not hot like Luke warm.. to add more to the experience the spoon they gave me for the gulab jamun was dirty and the rice for the thali were hard and temperature wise like they just came out of the fridge. I made the server aware and she was not apologetic, rather annoyed that I seemed to have mentioned thing were wrong. Had she been apologetic or remorseful the situation could have been rectified but due to her attitude I had complete lost my appetite. I sat there at my bf enjoyed his food and I waited for him to be done. Horrible experience....
Read moreWhen you are on the road as sales, Restaurants become your energizers to keep you moving, I have been going to this Restaurant(Airport/Derry) for over a decade, alone, with friends, biz associates, family over weekends. Genuine home style cooking, friendly staff and food quality has been maintained for years. There are numerous occasions, I have to take new friends visiting from India ( sometimes straight from Airport) for a lunch or breakfast. They feel they are in India and enjoying food the way it should be done....For most of my work related lunches when we need Indian food, Standard sweets has always given us a reason to smile after a great meal ! Their Ownership has stayed with the same folks also probably the key reason for Quality over years...I would highly recommend anyone to try for the first time and after 14 years you will still be enjoying and writing a note about their food ! Fresh food generally will take more time to come !!!!! BUT...
