Let me start by saying A&W made a great move a while back by switching to great products, grass fed beef, no processed cheeses, organic eggs! We loved it when we heard that, and started going back. We hadn't gone there in years. We'd go for breakfast ands we'd gone sometimes for supper. The service was great as well. It was a nice change from going to the big restaurants. You could say, A&W became our go-to place. But in the last year it has suddenly gone downhill and we noticed the changes, big time! They eliminated the nice cold frosty glass mugs with Rootbeer in the summer. They eliminated the nice hot mug of coffee and instead give you coffee in a paper cup. Once, my breakfast was cold. The only thing that was hot was the eggs! And last night decided to go for a burger. I entered the restaurant... no one around. Only 2 people attending the restaurant. One taking care of both front counter and drive thru, plus, apparently he was washing dishes in the back. And one person cooking on the grill. This is not enough staff! I waited at the counter for 10 minutes. When the boy came out, he looked at me and went straight to the window to help the drive thru first. Needless to say, I left without purchasing anything. I have personally seen the manager of this establishment. She is a very well dressed and mannerly person. I'm sure if she were dining in her own restaurant, she would want better service and better products than what is there now! The recent decisions made are not good! Not good choices and not good moves on her part. When you cut allot of corners, it shows! I will not come back unless it goes back to how it was before. If it doesn't, then our business has...
Read moreLet me start by saying I have been to this location before with great service..... this evening however I am not sure what was going on..... I arrived at 6:20pm ordered the mozza burger no seasoning on the burger no salt, pickles, mustard no salt on the onion rings since I have salt sensitivity condition. I requested no bacon I don't eat pork products for good reason. They asked me to wait three extra minutes which was not a problem because of my added request. I left the location get onto the hwy since I was on my way to work. My first taste was the salt, then the bacon not to mention the burger was slightly warm which ment they didn't prepare it to the specifications I requested. I was angry at first and threw the burger out the window then I thought I should have taken a picture of it. But I kept the receipt which clearly says all of the correct directions I provided to the cashier. What should I take away from this, maybe the person in the kitchen didn't care about the order? even though I was the only person in line at the location at the time? Or they weren't having a good day and I was being too picky, or was it personal? Whatever it was... all I have to say is the meal was not for free I paid pretty close to $16....I will...
Read moreFor a variety of reasons I limit my fast food to an occasional indulgence. Today I had a "hankerin" for good ol A&W. Looking forward to a pre-Christmas treat as I was out doing errands. Sadly, my hankerin quickly turned into a regret.
I ordered my Uncle Burger which seemed to be exactly what I wanted. My mouth dropped when the cashier rang in the price: I had ordered onion rings in place of fries. I had no clue that the "up charge" was so significant. Will not do that again.
My order came out pretty quickly so I was happy. The onion rings were piping hot - for 2-3 minutes then cooled down quickly. The burger, while tasty, was at best, luke warm. On a cold day, I was looking forward to a nice, hot, burger.
My "hankerin" was dashed and; I had an expensive reminder why I don't eat out too often at fast food restaurants. The last time I tried an A and W in Brantford (different location) I had the same experience. Would not recommend if looking for a reasonable priced meal that is...
