Waitress (and maybe owner?) is probably racist. Aggressively requested us to tip her when we were about to leave, and insulted us as "cheap" when we told her that that was not how to ask for tips. She even told us to never come back. This seems like a frequent occurrence as multiple other reviews state the same thing happened to them.
The place is dirty/unsanitary (as mentioned in multiple other reviews), they are disrespectful, especially when it comes to tips, and they do not have a Sales Recording Module as required by law (Revenue Québec). Added to the fact that they only take cash seems really shady.
They do not accept card, only cash. It was never mentioned at any point until we wanted to pay. So we had to find a nearby ATM to withdraw some money. We then went to the counter to pay for our food. While we were about to leave, one of the waitress/owner (old woman) came running to us and started aggressively requesting tips. We were confused at first. But she then continued stating that we did not leave any tips on the table, and that as we dined inside, we needed to tip her. Keep in mind that we were in a rush and barely stayed for 20 minutes after receiving our food. We even took the rest of the food to go. The only service they gave us was bringing our food, spoons and some water. Still confused we asked her if tipping here was mandatory, and that if it was they should have mentioned it beforehand. She replied no, but that people usually leave tips when they dine in and that we are cheap and should just go and never come back if we don't want to tip... At this point we were completely shocked! 😳 We told her that's now how someone asks for tips. She kept repeating herself and added that we should never come back and should only order takeout next time. It was so infuriating! We made quite a bit of noise until one other waitress (a young woman) started apologizing to us.
The food is ok at best.
Definitely not...
Read moreAmazing authentic Cantonese style Chinese food with a variety of other regional Asian styles as well.
Always packed and busy which is great just goes to show how popular it really is.
Food:
Excellent! Portion size is massive! Lots of choice and variety and sooooo tasty. Easily the best Chinese restaurant on the South Shore, hands down! Fried rice is lacking in flavour but the more traditional dishes are excellent.
Price:
Undefeated and undeniably the best bang for your buck. Price is low for the amount of food and quality of the dishes. I would opt for more traditional dishes and not like fried rice and won ton soup which are just a money grab for mediocre dishes that just don’t cost anything.
Service:
Courteous and friendly, not too chatty but they’re always willing to help. They serve food promptly and are very nice when it comes time to help for anything. Only thing is that they are never really willing to provide containers for takeaway, very minimal when it comes to providing a styrofoam container to take food home...they’ll charge 25 cents for each...
Read moreI was hesitant to write a review because I really like this place. I don't know if it is hard times cause of covid in terms of the finances, but I feel cheated out on with the portions. I was told that rice comes free with the portions and the portions would be the same with or without the rice but a lot of these dishes that I ordered had more rice than anything else in them. I spent $190 including a good tip in there. It is upsetting. Even the hunan beef had more onions than beef itself and then to all of that, the rest of the container was rice.
I will still order your pad thai. Perhaps some day. But for now I am just too upset to order from here again. They seemed so nice over the phone too so I can hardly believe it, but the portions are rather dishonest especially for the price you pay.
They still have the best pad thai ever (if you happen to like a strong seafood taste). Still my go to for pad thai in this province! Very generous with the portions of shrimp in it too. The sauce in it is soo good.
But really, makes me sad to order...
