We recently had a team outing of 16 people at Avani, a high-end Indian restaurant in Burlington, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly attentive, ensuring that all our requests were met promptly and with care.
Food & Presentation: The food was exceptional, both in taste and presentation. The menu caters to a wide range of palates, offering dishes from very spicy to mild and even spice-free options, making it a versatile choice for diverse groups.
I personally tried the Afghani Chicken, which was grilled chicken breast cooked to perfection. The dish featured five generously sized pieces, tender and flavorful, complemented by well-prepared onions, pickles and garnishes. It paired beautifully with cumin rice, creating a truly satisfying meal.
Another standout dish is the Avani Chicken Sampler—a perfect choice for those who want to experience a variety of chicken flavors. It includes five different types of chicken, each marinated in unique spices and seasonings, offering a diverse and delightful tasting experience.
The portions are substantial, ensuring great value for money. Their variety of Naan (Indian bread) is a must-try, from plain to garlic and butter-infused options—each adding a unique touch to the meal.
Drinks: The mango yogurt drink (mango lassi) deserves special mention. It was not only delicious but also a perfect companion to balance the spicier dishes. The restaurant even surprised us with complimentary shots of mango lassi for everyone, which was a delightful way to conclude the meal.
Service: The team, led by Hakam, the restaurant manager, was outstanding. Hakam, along with Pinak and Deepak, demonstrated exceptional professionalism and warmth. They went above and beyond to make our evening enjoyable, attending to every detail with politeness and efficiency.
Ambiance: The ambiance of Avani is elegant yet inviting, perfectly suited for both casual dining and special occasions.
Overall Experience: Avani offers a stellar dining experience with outstanding food, generous portions, and top-notch service. The attention to detail, variety of flavors, and excellent hospitality make it a must-visit. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the...
Read moreEdited post reply from Avani I have paid the entire bill.. All we asked was a sincere apology..which was never asked.. Dessert was offered we declined.. We asked for plate for my daughter to finish her food which was never given again.. Forget the food. We waited at the table patiently for the bill which never came..we walked to front desk When reminded about the brownie or cake for birthday that is when your front desk staff spoke to us in a manner of please take it and leave..we will give take out..that is when we really got frustrated and asked how your staff can do that to us.. I asked your staff for bill and they gave us the bill. Again Bill was paid..your comments translates to as Bill was not paid.
This is not the 1st time us visiting a restaurant or eating out on Birthdays.. Again all we asked was for fresh plate for my daughter to finish her dinner and a birthday cake.. Both were not offered . Rock bottom things go wrong..an sincere apology and great customer service takes you a long way.. You didn't just loose one customer.

We had the worst experience ever in the last 10 years we had in any restaurant. It was a birthday dinner and they just spoiled it.
Strike 1 : Bill had items that's were not served to us.. The conveniently added extra Naan's different varieties. When asked they said it was human error.. ok accepted errors do happen .. But what if I had not checked the bill before paying
Strike 2 : Since it was birthday dinner I asked for a cake..The waiter agreed that she would get a brownie and ice cream for an extra price..which I agreed but that was never served..when I asked they say they will give takeout.. Not accepted..
Strike 3 : A Major No - No.. We had a cockroach fly into our food plate.. The waiter hurriedly removed the plate even when my daughter was eating and one person probably manager just comes in and says they have fumigation certificate and we cannot do anything.
We asked for Bill and waited for 20 min and walked to the front desk for bill and the bill had same error and this time they just laugh out.
Please don't waste your money and time on this restaurant. It's expensive...
Read moreAbout seven years back on my stopover in Toronto I ate in this bistro with a friend of mine. I had ordered malia kofta besides other dishes. I had asked for very mildly spiced food. But food was very spicy. Specially malia koftas which bare traditionally mild dish. My friend complaint to server but he started arguing with her. We decided never to return to this bistro. But recently someone has been insisting that I should try it again. So yesterday I decided to have family dinner there. We asked the server if it was possible to get mildly spiced food and also if they have any gluten free options? But was told that they have no gluten free options. But food will be mild.?" We asked for kids menu but they don’t have any menu for kids. We ordered house soup and thought it Will be Indian but it was Chinese soup.! We didn’t like it at all. We ordered kale chaat and veg monos as starters. Chaat was delicious but monos were extremely spicy. Non of us could even have a bite of it. For main course we ordered Goan fish curry which was good. We ordered kesari paneer which was so so spicy. We ordered aloo mattar instead of aloo gobi. The spatially made for us but again it was extremely spicy. Before ordering riata. We asked if it is not spicy but were told it is already prepared and if we didn’t like we can return it. I have eaten in hundreds of Indian restaurants all over the world but never seen one who doesn’t offer mild, medium or hot choices. For any profession chef it is no problem. Unfortunately this bistro is unable to accommodate all different clients. On a positive note our server tried his best to communicate with chef. Please check your bill as they include gratuity 15% automatically. Though the server...
