I have been eating at doma for 5+ years. It used to be good when the owners husband was the lead chef but ever since he left, everything has gone downhill. I stopped eating at doma 2 years ago because they were serving âwarmed up and microwaved frozen foodâ and served raw fish that clearly was about to go bad. I went back to the restaurant again just to see if maybe they bounced back from being horrible, but unfortunately the only good(mediocre) food that was given was the raw salmon( wasnât even that fresh it was falling apart). The rest of the food that I have eaten for years and know the tastes very well looked off colour, tasted different in a bad way and even one of the types of fish was yellow and within 10 minutes(I was hesitating to eat it or not because I was pretty sure it had gone bad), had become more yellow and discoloured the other food. Not only that but the âwhite nestâ at the bottom of most sushi dishes served anywhere wasnât a white nest and more of a vegetable put through a cheese grater (the nicest way of describing how it looked is saying it looked like white fries). For reference they didnât do this 2 years ago and almost everything else had gone from bad to worse. Not even the most basic and cheapest of fish to serve (salmon) was fresh. I wouldâve given a 0 star because every time I ate there the last 2 1/2 years and gave them the benefit of the doubt, I got mild food poisoning. I gave it a 2 only because I remember what it used to be⌠itâs sad that the best place to eat sushi has become one...
Read moreA high-end Korean/Japanese restaurant where you least expect to find one, this strip mall gem offers some of the best dishes you'd find anywhere, including at fancy places charging twice as much. Every dish is carefully prepared and aesthetically presented, and the service is second to none. The chef and waitstaff clearly take pride in their work. One exception is the Korean ramen, which tastes a lot like the instant noodles you buy for $1.29 a pack.
But while they only have eight tables, it's hard to call the place "cozy" or "romantic". The ceramic floor and mostly-bare walls make this a rather noisy place, especially during dinner. A carpet and acoustic walls would greatly improve the overall experience.
Their lunch combos offer a decent, delicious meal, for $10-$15. Credit and debit accepted....
Read moreThe service at Doma sushi is absolutely fantastic, and the food is prepared quickly. We ordered the red dragon roll, Hawaiian roll, and spider roll as appetizers and they were all very good but nothing special. The Hawaiian roll had a great combination of flavours and the spider roll was served warm. The quality of the raw fish, however, was not the best in both its flavour and texture. For mains we ordered the sashimi dinner the salmon teriyaki, the bulgogi beef, and the beef yaki udon. The sashimi dinner was actually good despite the other fish being mediocre. The salmon teriyaki was average. The bulgogi and beef yaki udon were both quite tasty and abundant in protein. Overall, everything at Doma sushi was good (nothing special) but we found it to be overpriced compared to...
