The biggest challenge for franchise operations is consistency across all the outlets. I have found this to be true with Swiss Chalet which I have tried in many locations.
I went to this particular outlet, with friends for a late lunch (1:30 pm) on a Monday and noticed that there was only one person serving the entire restaurant. Understandable from a business point, but if there were any more than 3-4 tables on the go the delay would have been worse.
As it is we were in no rush, and the manager/server was pleasant so we stayed. Swiss Chalet is "re-introducing" there beef selections (who knew?), so having doubted the ribs at one time, I thought I would give the beef sandwich a shot with a rice side. My companions both had their standard quarter-chicken dinners, so they were settled.
I, on the other hand, was not impressed, The shredded beef was slightly burnt, had a couple pieces of chewy gristle, mixed with some kind of beef sauce and served with a hot horseradish that was not evenly spread on the bun. Very poor presentation to say the least, The server assured me that her previous experience was much better. Like I say....consistency.
We finished off with a known entity...coconut cream pie. That saved the meal, but disappointed with this "re-introduced" beef menu. I don't think I will try that again. Stick with the...
Read moreThe food was exactly what I expected, the delivery was the problem. I opted to order straight from Swiss Chalets app instead of using Uber, Skip, or DoorDash, I've been told by a few restaurants that they always prefer using their own drivers and honestly if they have their own than why not, I know those services end up charging you a bit more and the restaurant ends up giving them a bit too, so I used their own service! The food came to my house quickly which was great but the delivery driver didnt follow instructions, I had requested contactless delivery and he stood there at my door waiting and knocking a few times until someone answered the door. I understand thats how it used to be and the guy was a bit older and probably used to doing that, but there was a reason I chose contactless! I am sick with a bad cold and not in any shape to see people not to mention I do not want to pass on this cold to anyone. It may seem like a small thing but it was very inconvenient, why make contactless an option if the driver isnt going to leave your food at the door, I had forgotten that this was a problem with this location until today, I had the same thing happen a different time I ordered from there and I was equally just as annoyed then too. Next time, I'll just use DoorDash and...
Read moreI went to Swiss Chalet on Saturday night with some coworkers. We walked in and got a table, minutes before a sudden influx of people piled in. What I noticed upon arrival, the hostess stand had a sheet with wait staffs names on it, most of which had said cut beside their names... Meaning they wouldn't be taking on anymore tables. There were servers getting double and triple sat tables. This situation is not conducive to giving the proper steps of service to guests. Given the fact that there was a lack of staff on the floor and the fact that the kitchen got simultaneously slammed with orders, our table was fortunate to have a waiter named Emmy. He was kind, polite and sincerely apologetic that the kitchen was taking longer than desired... I would personally give him a 5 star rating. The food as always, was delicious! I have yet to ever have a bad meal at Swiss Chalet. I do feel however that on this particular day they cut the staff way too early during a busy Saturday dinner rush and based on this they set the serving staff up to be at a disadvantage. Given this fact, I think the staff did a really good job of trying to keep their heads...
