Didn't expect a dinner and a show - cockroach! Yuck!!

So disgusting. First of all, I am going to by pass on reviewing the food and get to the major issues that I found with this restaurant. My friend and I decided to dine at this restaurant this afternoon, and I was sitting across from her, a cockroach scurried across the back of the booth seat. It scurried quickly quickly to the floor. How gross!!!! I alerted my friend to the coachroach to it and she was able to squish it with her boot. I first alerted the waitress who didn't look so suprised when I told her. That was a red flag for me. She then brought the manager over to our table. We told the manager who we saw a cockroach. She then told us how they had the place sprayed recently and couldn't believe they were still having issues. She said that she believed the cockroaches were coming from the ceiling due to the fact that there was a food court above the restauant. She said it was a 'Mall Issue' and that she would do something about it in the morning. Wow poor patrons who had to continue to eat there while we knew the truth! We explained to to her how we were disgusted and how we didn't expect to come to the restaurant to have to see a cockroach. I asked her about her kitchen and then she said, they didn't have cockroaches or had not seen any in the kitchen. Well we said to her, well where's one cockroach then there's more. I can't believe that she would have us think that there were no cockroaches in the kitchen? I guess the cockroach wanted to join us for lunch. We should have brought it a drink too. Which now brings me back to the manager. Not only did she not seem to feel embarassed and spoke candidately about their cockroach problem - she never even discounted our bill. Nothing was done. Unbelievable. Poor managerial skills. We made sure to shake off our clothes as we didn't want to bring any critters home with us. We will not be returning to the restaurant and are also very skeptical about returning to any of the restaurants in that mall since the manager told us that the cockroaches were a 'mall issue.'

We felt sorry for the waitress. We still tipped her and paid our bill in full. It wasn't her fault her manager lacked...

If we could give this restaurant a negative number we would. One star is far to generous for Turtle Jacks Mapleview and Sam the manager on day shift today. Our family of 5 stopped in for a simple lunch. Let’s start with the service at the beginning … over 30 minute wait for our drink order. They kids drinks came in 20 minutes, but my wife and I had ordered 2 large glasses of red wine. We waited another 10 minutes for them. The server who delivered the red wine promptly tipped them over the table and our family. My seven year old daughter was covered in red wine, her winter coat was also covered in wine. My wife’s white sweater has a 3” x 3” red wine stain and my oldest sons hoodie he just received for Christmas was has several large wine stains. We were left standing in a full restaurant covered in wine as the server went to find something to clean it up with. I had to go to the front reception and ask for a manager. Sam the manager on duty finally arrives to the table asking what happened. I explain that the server dropped of some side plates, forgot she had 2 full glasses of red wine on her tray and just tipped them all over the table and us. Sam’s response was “ sorry about that “ and stood looking at the table, seats and guests covered in red wine. I told Sam “ bad enough that this happened, but we are standing here and no one is even cleaning it up!” Sam’s response was “ I guess I can move you to another table and replace your drinks” and that’s exactly what he did and nothing else. My wife had to go into the mall and buy some clothes for my seven year old daughter to change into just to be able to sit comfortably. We finally were able to order and eat lunch. Sam never came back to check on us, but he did comp our 2 glasses of red wine. WOW. A disaster of a lunch experience, over $300 in ruined clothes Another $50 in unneeded / unwanted clothes for my daughter, just to be able to be comfortable. We will NEVER eat here again! Last night we had to do some shopping at the mall and decided to grab a bite to eat at Turtle Jack's. At first we weren't going to eat there because we are supposed to eat there next week for a birthday party, but we decided to anyway. When we arrived the hostesses were not friendly at all. STRIKE ONE. Our waiter wasn't very friendly either. STRIKE TWO. We ordered our dinner and it came within 15 minutes, which was good. The food was decent, but our waiter did not even once come and check on us to see how our meal was or to ask if we need anything. When we were finished eating, we had to wait a whopping 20 minutes before we got our bill! In fact, we hadn't seen our waiter at all since our food was delivered so I went looking for him and couldn't find him or anyone else to assist in getting us our bill. STRIKE THREE. Finally, I approached one of the hostesses to assist, asking her if she can please find out waiter to grab us our bill. She had such a rude reaction to this request and seemed very annoyed! STRIKE FOUR. Finally our waiter came to bring our bill. He didn't ask how our meal was! He literally walked up to our table and said "One bill or two?". I replied with "One" and he placed it on the table along with the machine and walked away! That's it! No thank you, no asking how our meal was! STRIKE FIVE. When we left neither of the hostesses acknowledged us leaving as they were wrapped up in conversation with themselves. STRIKE SIX. We are in our mid-thirties and have experienced a lot of bad restaurant service in our lives, but this one took the cake! In fact, even when the service is bad, I always tip. This time we did not tip for the first time in our lives, that's how awful it was. It pains us to have spent our hard-earned money on a meal with such awful service.
