Zesty - Shawarma & Halal Grill — Restaurant in Burlington

I liked the food, so they get one star for that otherwise they'd get 0 (I know not possible).

We showed up around lunch time and waited for about 15 minutes to try and get someone to come up front for some service. So I ended up CALLING THE STORE to get someone to help me, at which point they didn't want to take an order over the phone... which is great!... because I wanted someone to come up front and take my order, which they still wouldn't. It may have been a language barrier so I repeatedly tried to tell them that I was up front and IN THE STORE waiting for service, and they said sorry... can I call again in 5 minutes... WHAT?

Eventually someone came in the back door and saw me, the person who took my phone call came up and made my order (apparently they were capable...) then I got 2 phone calls from the store trying to take an order over the phone and I had to keep explaining to this new person, that I alraedy had my food, was sitting down IN THE STORE, and eating it. he kept saying sorry, and trying to get me to order again on the phone. I didn't know how else I could explain my situation, terrible terrible service. no...

Skip the dishes mess up We ordered through skip the dishes, and after an hour of waiting and watching the app had showed no driver movement, and still said our skip the dishes driver was 25 min out from delivery. After contacting skip the dishes and having our order reassigned to another driver, this restaurant called to inform us that they had made fresh food, instead of hour old food, and sent the driver with an extra treat for us because we had waited so long. It went from leaving us frustrated with skip the dishes, to impressed that this restaurant wanted us to have good hot food and was even willing to help ease our frustration by providing a little extra! Surprised by my experience considering the many positive reviews. I had a chicken shawarma plate and a falafel plate. The good: Salad was great, dressing was two thumbs up. Potatoes were terrific as were the pickled turnips. The people serving us were very nice! The not so good: Chicken was dry and overall tasteless. A perfect shawarma should be able to be enjoyed without any sauce because the chicken is so flavourful. This was not the case unfortunately, chicken was not great. The garlic and hot sauce were also below average, very little flavor. Hot sauce was surprisingly bland. The falafel was dry and below average.
