A&W Canada — Restaurant in Burnaby

I am myopic and wear corrective glasses. I went to order takeaway since i knew they were closing. It was cold and night and no way that I can see without my glasses. I walked in with my mask a little low or else my glasses gets foggy if i enter a store with my mask up and can’t see anything at all. The guy, I don’t know his name but i will describe him as white with dark hair and a fitbit with a silver metal chain band on his left wrist rudely told me to put my mask up. I told him give me a second because i just entered and they will be foggy and I can’t see with them. He stood there and said put your mask on again rudely. I pull it up and asked for some tissues to clean my now foggy glasses. He didn’t give me any, I repeated politely can I please have some tissue or napkin. Again no reply just stood there. I once again requested still he just stood there and he kept ignoring me. I had to take my glasses off and clean them with my tshirt. He could clearly see me struggling with blurred vision but didn’t do anything. When I requested for napkins he just ignored me three to four times consecutively. It made me feel awful about my vision. Needless to say I was very upset with this terrible experience and I will never return to that restaurant and will generally avoid A&W from now on. No one was wearing masks and even though i was the only one took so long. I will never forget...

I do think this A&W is one of the best stores I have ever been to. Considering how few good food there are on top of the mountain, this A&W really is a god’s blessing. Only con is, because of how good the service is here, it’s pretty often to only eat it for a while. Which cause you to stop liking it… All in all, definitely one of the best places for food in SFU.

Update 2025: Been 2 years since the initial review… and yeah, place is still pretty great. It’s the only conventional burger fast food on top of SFU, but it is pretty surprising that even without competition the quality is so good. Thinking about it, it probably has to do with price. After inflation, a burger meal now costs 20 CAD after tax. This is currently pretty significantly more expensive than places like McDonald’s and Burger King, mostly because A&W doesn’t really have any discounts in apps. The manager needs to take a course in customer relations. I had a similar experience as another reviewer where I had an issues with an order and was only offered the bare minimum to correct it - I took 3 items back and 1 had a bite taken from it, determined it was cold and another was over done. Only the over done item was replaced and my bite missing piece was returned. Manger tried to blame the crew but I have experienced the crew before and they are wonderful. I have also experienced this manager before, very argumentative in the past. In the end I asked for a refund for the last item and she took pleasure in the fact that she was returning me .75 instead of the full price of the item. It really isnt about the coins, it's...
