I wanted to try something new in this area and I regret that decision. I’ve never reviewed places but after my experience I really wanted to share this. I was surprised with how cheap the prices were especially since it is located on campus but now I understand why.
The sauces were extremely watery, with no flavour and they literally DRENCH the heck out of it. Hummus was watered down and probably made with powder to the point that I couldn’t eat more than one dip. The meat was good, however I am disappointed after reading other reviews to know it’s probably not halal. The rice was Asian rice... which is different for a Mediterranean restaurant and the stickiness of the rice definitely not fit well with the sauce... also no wonder why they have to put so much sauce on in the first place. I eat Asian rice almost everyday, but I couldn’t even eat half of what I ordered. The best part of the meal was the pita bread... which was probably store bought.
Extremely disappointed. I definitely do not...
Read moreThe absolute worst donair place I have tried. The one star is for friendly and fast service. This is in no way to be spiteful but to serve what they serve there, they should be ashamed and have some pride in what they sell. My meal a Lamb platter. The lamb itself was too dry, but this was the best part of the place. The rice bland. The salad some Romain lettuce , with two sorry slices of tomatoes that weren't the freshest. And a few slices of cucumber. No dressing,no vinaigrette. Pita on the side was pre wrapped and sitting all day half opened. The absolute worst part was the humous, there is a few reviews that's it's watered down. It literally is they added water to make more and mixed I can tell. It's cheap 9 bucks. But at the ending of the day I threw half it out and got to buy food somewhere else, so it wasn't cheaper. I'm astounded how horrible this...
Read moreBeen eating here quite religiously for the past 4 years I have studied at SFU. Arguably the best bang for your buck on campus given the portion size and the price. Their platter and donair portion sizes have always been quite generous.
The food taste decent and the meats is light on flavor. The sauces add much needed flavor. I started out eating the donairs but found that it gets messy quick. The platters offer a good portion of veggies, rice and meat; its the perfect study dinner for those late nights on campus.
If you're looking for authentic middle Eastern food, this isn't the place but if you're looking for a cheap eat under $7 the donair is a good choice or the platter, is another great choice...
