Decent place to try Turkish Afghan food. This place functions more as a take out joint, not a diner, but there are tables and chairs for about 12 people if they want to eat there. Family business, nice and friendly. There is a public free parking lot before building or try street parking along Pender St or Hastings. I ordered the Turkish Afghan platter which was served on a beef lahmacun flatbread. I ordered mild. It was topped with Kabuli rice (basmati rice) - I liked the flavoring and raisins in the rice, and comes with a very small salad. Tasty, cooked just right. You order food and drinks at counter, and then get drink from fridge yourself. There is a bottle opener by cash register if you need to borrow one. Most people came to order take out or came to pick up their orders. There is a tv screen on wall playing melodious songs by Turkish or Afghan singers. Give them a...
Read moreAwesome, family owned business! I live in this neighborhood so it's been a staple of mine for a while. Even if I didn't live close, I would still come back for the lamb on the regular. I honestly should have written a review sooner, but after yesterday, I had to. I ordered my meal over the phone to go pick it up. When I got there I was given an order that ended up not being the right one. Once I got home they called me and informed me of the error. I said I would come back, since it's close and just a minor inconvenience (which had never happened before). Then he offered to drive it to me. It was greatly appreciated, since I was in the midst of getting my daughters' food ready. He got here and handed me my order. I tried to give back the other (untouched) order, but he told me just to keep it. What a kind gesture. Thanks guys. It's all about the little things. See...
Read moreI have tried the entire menu. The Lamb Shank was really good. The Chicken Wrap and Adana Platter are my favourites. The Turkish Afghan Special is really interesting but you would have to eat in for that. The toasted crunchy bread under the dish adds to the experience. This restaurant does huge takeout business both from people ordering in store and from delivery services. Keep that in mind if you go there during peak lunch or dinner time. Call ahead to assess the situation if you're trying to eat in. For takeout, definitely give them a buzz first. I've had zero service issues. In fact, the new owners are better than the last business that was here and by a long way. What's different? The delicious Garlic Sauce and the Pickles they add to the wraps. What could be better? The Hot Sauce could be better and much spicier as it has no real bite or extra...
