Absolute worst experience ive ever had at a shop in vancouver and ive been here 20 years.. their product is poorly made and just gross especially for the over pricing.. no napkin and i asked for a cream cheese cup cake, they showed me one and said it was filled with cream cheese, i barely had cream cheese inside and when i showed them the 3/4 of the cup cake left that was missing the filling they said they can refund partly eaten cupcakes, but how would you know about the filling with out taking a bite or 2? The staff was so rude to me for ask to speak to a manager and the girl refused, then i asked if she was the owner or manager and she said "basicly", wich mean no she isnt, i asked if she was the manager and then she finnaly said she wasnt, i wanted her to call the manager or let me call the manager or she could give me even half my money back and would feel it was fair, but she refused and said she was calling security on me for asking for a refund and i was only asking for half my money back to be fair. They security showed up and and gave me an anxiety attack, thinking they were showing up to deal with some thief but it was just a guy who wanted a refund. They told me the shop will not give me my money and i should go to the mall help desk and make a complaint, i made a complaint with the mall and they were not happy about the they treated me as a customer and how they represent MetroTown mall, the mall gave me a gift card for the bad experience i had in the mall. Also went shopping at super store and turns out the cashier had friends who worked for the cupcake place and they have a horrible reputation and said they have terrible management, also noticed a ton of bad revues right here on google about the terrible quality this business offers. I will be taking this further, will get ahold of the owner and want to know why they think this is how you treat customers and will be asking for compensation for such a terrible service and treatment. Never give these people your money, they absolutely...
Read more"My cupcakes are moist and delicious. Men love my cupcakes," so said my favorite Golden Girl. She could have been describing the ones that are selling here at Metrotown Cupcakes, which doubles as not only their flagship store, but also the last surviving one in Vancouver.
I've been buying from them for years, and the cupcakes have always been soft and fresh. Generously decorated with buttercream frosting and intricately topped off with unconventional items like Hershey Kisses, miniature cookies and cinnamon buns, candied pumpkins and eyes, marshmallows and fruit, these aren't your grandmother's Sunday Cupcakes.
I usually buy 6 in a pack, which is plenty to give you a never~ending sugar high. Once in awhile, I like to bring a pack into work and watch my coworkers drool over them as I put them on my desk in plain view. It's a great way to get some brownie points with your fellow colleagues. Or make that cupcake points.
With new Flavours of the Month being spotlighted alongside their fixed ones, it shouldn't be too hard for you to find one or two cupcakes to bring home with you. They also come in various sizes too, from "mini" which can only be bought in pre packaged increments of 12, to their "classic" which is their regular sized cupcakes that can be bought Ă la carte for about $5 a piece, to their "Big One", a sizable cupcake two times the size of a regular cupcake selling at about $16.
Like a lot of other places, Cupcakes also has a loyalty program that doles out special offers, points that can be redeemed for tote bags or a few dollars off your order, or the biggest reward of all, an actual cake {you'll probably be eating cupcakes for the rest of your life to accumulate the points needed to cash in on this one}.
Cupcakes are one of the most accessible desserts around, and this Cupcakes store has capitalized on this. Buy one, buy two, they are all delectable. And isn't that the icing on the cake? Make...
Read moreI really wanted to leave a more positive reviewâas I ordered two custom Labubu mini cakes for my girlfriendâs birthday and she genuinely loved the surprise and how cute they looked. Unfortunately, the overall experienceâfrom ordering to tasteâfell short, and I wouldnât reccomend Cupcakes at Metrotown based on this.
First, the ordering process was far more complicated than it needed to beâthere was conflicting and confusing information shared via e-mail, which made selection and order coordination very frustrating.
More importantly, I had specifically requested that the cakes be produced on the day of pickup since I planned to hold them for two days before my girlfriendâs actual birthday (this timing was due to our travel schedule). This was verbally confirmed when I placed and paid for the order. However, after a change in our plans, I called the day before pickup to ask that they delay production â I was told they had already made the cakes. That meant we had to give her the cakes right away (on pickup day), since they were already a day old and wouldnât have stayed fresh for the birthday.
However, that proved to be unnecessary, because even though we served them on the day of pickup, the actual taste of the cakes was disappointing. The cake was dense and dry, and one of them didnât follow the order correctlyâwe asked for chocolate cake with Nutella but received chocolate cake with buttercream (which I really dislike).
Lastly, the blue cake wasnât properly packagedâit slid around in the box during transit and ended up a bit damaged. If it had been secured with tape like the purple one, or placed in a properly sized box, this could have easily been avoided..
Soâwere they cute? Yes. Was my girlfriend surprised? Absolutely. But were the cakes delicious or enjoyable? No. Were they made as ordered or packaged...
